Just been reading in the paper about the worker from Tesco who printed off the wrong lotto ticket for a customer which turned out to be a winning 1 for 500'000 euro. She gave the customer the right ticket and says she put the winning 1 aside and had planned to pay for it the nxt day, now Tesco wont hand it over and shes gonna sue them. Do you think she should have the ticket? Do you think she would have paid for it had it been a losing ticket, personally id like to see it split between all the workers in that store dunno

It seems to me that this checkout girl is not thinking of the bigger picture. By suing her employer, she is making her position in Tescos untenable. How is she going to be able to go back there after she loses the case?

If she had paid for the ticket, it would be her winnings.

If she had refunded it, the money should be rolled over into the next jackpot.

If she didn’t refund it, it would be the property of Tescos to claim.

To not pay for the ticket and claim it as her own, its theft.

I think it is that simple.

Its terrible what greed does to people. I also think if she does get awarded that money (which i doubt will happen)then she will probably have no luck with it.

I'd prefer to see it go to charity than go to the tesco workers. I know they don't get paid big money but i think with the recession, donations are probably down so charities need the money more....JMO.

From what I read she put it in the till. Employees are allowed to buy tickets that have been printed and not sold - however she tried to pay for it the next day and Tescos wouldnt let her as they had cleared the till etc.

My reckoning - tough!

I think it should be left she intended on paying and didn't so she really isn't the owner sounds miserable and I do have some empathy but there is a good result here there are giving the winnings to charity others will gain
