Ireland has just launched a rocket into space !
On board are a monkey and an Irishman.
They were both given a sealed envelope and told to open it when they were in space.

The monkeys one said: Check all the computer systaems and radiation warnings. Also check the heat shield system and fuel temperature etc. Report bak to base every 20 minutes.

The Irishman's one said: Feed the monkey !

the funnyest one ive ever heard was the story a land far far away, where the little people lived,
one day a man came along and said
"heres loads of money my little furry friends ,go and buy houses and cars and everything else money can buy "
10 years later the man returned and asked for his money back
the people were shocked but had to give the money back
so the land of the little people sank back into poverty ,
the conspiracy theorists believe that there never was any money and that it was all a dream cooked up by a man called bertie and his evil gang fina fail

Ireland has just entered the space race !

We are sending a man to the sun.
Nasa said he would be toast after the first million miles.
We had thought of that too.
We are sending him up at night !!

blarneykite: Mythbusters on Discovery did an entire programme on the landings and many of the points raised above. They disproved all the Hoax claims including the flag in a vacume chamber, the backlighting of the Astronaut, footprints. It's a great watch if you can find it online

Yea saw that it was brilliant there was also a documentry film about it on history channel not so long ago the reckon it was all filmed in a studio.

The Japanese(Jaxa) moon probe "Selene" which was launched in 2008 and eventually crashed into the moon's surface gathered lots of very interesting data about the moon.
The Japanese have refused to share that info with Nasa and also the photos they have of the far side of the moon.

Japan have made it clear that they have plans to land on the moon in the next 10 years. This news has caused a lot of worry for Nasa who have recently annonced a 2018 moon landing.

The Russians as usual are staying very quiet on this subject and 2 weeks ago launched another manned rocket to the space station.

Chandrayaan-1 is India's first mission to the moon. The unmanned lunar exploration mission includes a lunar orbiter and an impactor called the Moon Impact Probe. India launched the spacecraft using a modified version of the PSLV is C11 on 22 October 2008 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The vehicle was successfully inserted into lunar orbit on 8 November 2008. It carries high-resolution remote sensing equipment for visible, near infrared, and soft and hard X-ray frequencies. Over its two-year operational period, it is intended to survey the lunar surface to produce a complete map of its chemical characteristics and 3-dimensional topography. The polar regions are of special interest, as they might contain ice. The lunar mission carries five ISRO payloads and six payloads from other international space agencies including NASA, ESA, and the Bulgarian Aerospace Agency, which were carried free of cost. The Chandrayaan-1 along with NASA's LRO played a major role in discovering the existence of water on the moon.

You also might find one or three things here either explained or on the other hand it could give you more Q's than answers...

Also this might help explain some of the Q's people ask about the moon landing's....

Subject: Why NASA DID land on the moon.

I am writing to argue that NASA really did put men on the moon. Here are my 9 responses to your nine "space oddities".

1. "Apollo 14 astronaut Allen Shepard played golf on the Moon. In front of a worldwide TV audience, Mission Control teased him about slicing the ball to the right. Yet a slice is caused by uneven air flow over the ball. The Moon has no atmosphere and no air." The functional word here is "teased". Mission control was, as you said, merely teasing him. There is no way for anyone to be able to tell exactly which way the ball went. And even if you could, maybe he wasn't
holding the club straight, so the head hit the ball on an angle.

2. "A camera panned upwards to catch Apollo 16's Lunar Landerlifting off the Moon. Who did the filming?"
Mission Control. If you watched the miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon", you would know that there was a guy in mission control, controlling the pan/tilt functions on the tv camera tripod. If you want to bring up the 7 second radio delay due to distance, he actually sent the command to tilt up with the ascending lander 7 seconds before it happened, and it all worked out.

3. "One NASA picture from Apollo 11 is looking up at Neil Armstrong about to take his giant step for mankind. The photographer must have been lying on the planet surface. If Armstrong was the first man on the Moon, then who took the shot?" You really ought to learn more about the missions before you start attacking them like this. There was an arm attached to the lander that was deployed just before Neil Armstrong opened the hatch. This arm had a television and a still camera mounted to it.

With the substantial completion of the ISS in March 2011, plans for space exploration by the USA remain in flux. Constellation, a Bush Administration program for a return to the Moon by 2020 was judged unrealistic by an expert review panel reporting in 2009. The Obama Administration proposed a revision of Constellation in 2010 to focus on the development of the capability for crewed missions beyond low earth orbit (LEO), envisioning extending the operation of the ISS beyond 2020, transferring the development of launch vehicles for human crews from NASA to the private sector, and developing technology to enable missions to beyond LEO, such as Earth/Moon L1, the Moon, Earth/Sun L2, near-earth asteroids, and Phobos or Mars orbit. As of March 2011, the US Senate and House of Representatives are still working towards a compromise NASA funding bill, which will probably terminate Constellation and fund development of a heavy lift launch vehicle.

In the 2000s, the People's Republic of China initiated a successful manned spaceflight program, while the European Union, Japan, and India have also planned future manned space missions. China, Russia, Japan, and India have advocated manned missions to the Moon during the 21st century, while the European Union has advocated manned missions to both the Moon and Mars during the 21st century.
