Teachers can break or shape your life. There are good ones and bad ones.
I’ve had very many good ones, but I’ll start out with my worst one:
Katherine was my 4th grade teacher. For some reason she didn’t like me and would punish me if she didn’t like my homework. I tried hard to please her, but nothing would work.
She would not allow me to go out to recess with the other students to have a healthy recreational life.
She asked the class one day to write a Poem. I worked very hard at home with a Poem that I thought would please her. It was called Niagara Falls sounds like a bunch of bouncing balls. She gave me a D-. This stunted my growth in writing…and I went into Electronics and Science instead.

I had an 8th grade English teacher who loved to wear loose tops. Whenever she bent over there was one hell of a view
In my senior year of high school, I had a Graphic Arts teacher offer to write out a letter of recommendation for me. It would have helped me get a foot in the door of any place that dealt with printing. I turned it down as I used the class only as a filler. Sometimes I wish I had taken that offer as it may have come in handy after I left the USCG.
I can't even think of the worst teacher as I never had any. But then, if I had been asked this question way back then, I may have had a few
That was a great and honest post! Ranks right up with the best ones on CS.
When I moved on to 5th grade, I had a great Teacher. Her name was Mrs. Williams. She allowed me to recite my writings to the class. I had a great idea for a book at the time…it was called Mysterious Island.
It was about a group of youngsters that went sailing one day and lost control of their sailboat in a storm. They ended up on a small sinking piece of rock to hold onto. Their Adventures was like the book by Hemmingway “Old Man and the Sea". There is mostly a happy ending in great books, sometimes not.
Sometimes the best teachers are your friends or bosses.
I had a great and smart work friend named Jim. If I had personal problems that I needed to talk about, he always came to my rescue to give me advice. He went way out of his way to do that.
Question? Have you ever helped a great Teacher of yours later in life that may have problems also?
They are Human Beings like all of us that also need our attention.
My favorite high school history teacher used to dress up in the costumes of the historical period we were studying and bring history to life. - course history was easier to study back when I was young cause I was around for the invention of fire.
one of my best teachers was a boss on an old job I had - he was a regional director and I seldom saw him as he was based in SE Kentucky. But he was an excellent role model and always 100% a Kentucky gentleman - never anything but respect from him & for him. I certainly would help him at any time if he needed me to for some reason. but I can;t imagine that he would
There's university professor - biologist - who helped me with some hobbies and projects - he'd spend as much time with me as tho I was a real student - he let me go on field trips with his classes and actually liked it when I did cuz when it comes to bein out in nature I am much more expereinced than ur average college student- so we did each other a favor there - he had me tell them about things I knew from expereince - not too many college professors value that - he was a great teacher - he made me proud and his students learned things from him, as did I, that books can't teach
speaking of what books can't teach - at thay same university I had a friend who took core samples for the geology dept. he let me go out on the rigs with him and he told me everything he knew - best education in geology anyone could want and he showed me the reasons why it is important to know facts and theories - right outside in the mud- only a great teacher can do that = and funny thing is he was a rig runner - not officially a teacher - but he was one of the best teachers ever!!
All of my teachers were awesome! the only issue i ever had was with my English teacher, while he was an awesome teacher and a really nice guy, in the mornings when i had his class he had halitosis that would embarass your average dung beetle...

My best teacher was my 6th grade teacher. He got me studying harder and better. Iread the post about an English teacher with the loose tops. It remind me of my 10th grade English teacher who wore mini skirts most of the times. She would sit on top o her desk, cross her ankles and wave her legs up an down. My eyes were rollig up and down with them. It was the first Englih class I enjoyed going to.
Oh, the horrors of grade school and the lack of phonics... Worst kindergarten teacher, Miss Bracy! Middle school was better and a home economics teacher, Miss Poindexter was cool. High School a great teacher named Mrs Stone and she was hard as a rock. This was a teacher that validated my intelligence and helped me overcome my issues with reading.
I had a good Science Teacher in High school; Mr. Pierce.
He taught me electronics...a good man.
One quarter though, he allowed us to provide our experimental projects for a grade. This went awry for him.
One of my classmates, Gregg, decided to do an experiment with mice in a maze while he was feeding them pure alcohol through an eyedropper. This was one of the funniest things that I have ever seen. The mice didn't go through the maze...they tried to jump over the top of the wall!

My worst teacher was a teacher from my junior highschool, she was a history teacher. I don't know why but it seems that she hates me. She loves to search for my mistakes and embarrassed me in front of my classmates. I still hate her until now, I wont forget what she had done to me.

School - ugh. Overall for the most part a stressful frustrating experience. Although Mr. Richardson did strike my interest in the sharing of his history stories.
my favourite, far above others, was Mr. Lou Englehart, the high school art teacher. during a very difficult period in my life, he just let me be me, and let me know that, that was just fine.(the popular opinion at the time was that i would never amount to anything) it was a tough class at times because of the technical expectations though. but when i got to art college i already knew how to do many things and aced the class. after a few years of teaching university, i had the opportunity to have dinner at his home with his family. he was so proud of me, and he said that he always knew i could do it. it was like being in a time bubble that evening. i went back to school again shortly after that. and yup... for the last 15 years i have been the high school art teacher, and i think of him often while i teach.
I had a great teacher named Mr. Anderson in my first year of College. This was my first English class. Andy was unconventional as a Teacher. He didn't like the set-up in a classroom environment, so when the weather was nice, he would take us outside under a big tree to talk.
Andy believed that the first step to English writing was to be able to speak to one another first. Kudos to Andy!
