Reason for this thread is a lady that I know quite well stated that she would not give a penny to charity. I was stunned.
Now then!
Do you or would you give to charity and why?

I do and have certain ones very close to my heart.
I give out of my bank to McMillan in the hope I never need them.
Air Ambulance the same reason, cross fingers on that one.
Cancer UK hoping that I get no more scares.
Ex Service men & women they deserve it and more.
The Cats protection, I adore Cats, and am allergic to them.
The Dogs home, dogs are super.
Age concern hoping I never live that long.

Foreign Charities noooooooooooooo Ethopia I would give them luggage and tell them to move.
Islamic relief, well there is only one answer for them.

yes i donate to Médecins Sans Frontières, St Christoph air ambulance and to the REME association fund.

Religious charities no way jose, they have so much cash they dont know what to do with it. Red Cross, stopped donating blood to them after i found out they were processing it and then selling on the open market to the highest bidder.

I do, but not on a regular basis ..... the trouble is with donating money is that you never know how much the tax man is going to take

If they are a charity and have no comercial dealings the tax man dont get a penny. If they have commercial dealings (aka Red Cross) the tax man takes normal business tax based on the commercial earnings including the charity chunk as well.

erm... some others too I have given to and some I continue to give to.. But I remember first and foremost, charity begins at home! So, these guys get nothing, if I have NOTHING to give.

Hi TC have to say will not give to other countries this country is in dire stress itself. Now with the Gov giving Billions to Victims in Pakistan from way back when Britain was in Pakistan. So the school here have to have cut backs as a result of this.
Now that does get me on my soapbox! No to giving money to foreign countries not our responsibility! Do not care who it is for.
Remember what the Queen said at the time of the disaster if Pakistan " If you need some people to repopulate we have lots here, can send you plenty" not direct quote though!!! doh

Amen and agree 100% with you. Charity does begin at home and wish that the Gov of this country would understand that.
Well done hun. I know you are a decent and generous person. thumbs up hug
