easter sunday- 1983- a train station in shaker heights [a very wealthy community bordering on slums]- a poor white man was begging for money......i gave the man some; he thanked me........a few minutes later, i noticed that a very influential and wealthy jew had led the man into a diner booth- and had bought breakfast for the chap, sitting with him .......this was one of the kindest acts i had ever seen............."and out of the fierce, vicious, greedy tribe came a kind, compassionate prince who doth share his food with a hungry, desperate man........blessed be this prince, and cursed forever be his mean brother from stratford- a miserable, creature who knows not the joy of sharing one's food and good fortune. unles he repent, he shalt not know happiness."......the book of james

Yes - we should all be more charitable and less selfish, not only at Easter and Xmas but all the year round.
This is my favourite song the Michael Jackson has sung which sums it up so well.

And that is what life should all be about, sharing and helping others less fortunate. A couple of years ago a young man knocked my door, he told me he was homeless and asked if there were any jobs he could do to the outside of my home, clean the windows, check the guttering for leaves etc. I gave him 5 pounds and said no, i dont have any jobs but good luck. I saw him knock many doors and come away with nothing, but there were a few who gave. £ months ago that same young man knocked my door, he wanted to return that 5 pound i gave him, seems he had got himself on his feet, got a job and was doing very well. I told him to keep the fiver and only come back with it when he made his first million. Sometimes we have to forget how fortunate we are and help others,
