wexlady41: I seldom comment on these types of threads. But I will put in my tuppence worth.....

The past is the past. Leave it there and move on.

She is a woman in her 80's visiting a country that is supposedly known for it's 100,000 welcomes. It's time to show we are adults and behave in an adult manner.

I'll say no more on the subject.

Well said

I went to Bangor before to buy a car I saw in Autotrader, I knew Bangor was a black hole but I didn't care cause I really wanted the car, I figured my money was as good as anybody elses, when I arrived in the area I saw Union Flags, England flags, The kerbs were painted red, blue and white, It was intimidating especially driving in there with a southern reg car uh oh
I took the car for a test drive and he was sitting beside me telling me he will be canvassing for the local DUP candidate, I pretended I was really interested but behind it all I was screaming get me out of here, I did buy the car and when I told him my name an address for change of ownership document, He gave me a strange look seeing as I have a real catholic surname and the address toolaugh but he became really chatty and I talked to him for a good 15 minutes, he was sound out, Point being there are some decent people from the blackholes of Belfast and other parts of NI, I would nearly go as far as to say you would be treated with respect ireland

Phoenix: In fairness to the British if they want to retain a monarchy...It's their country and they decide who they want as head of state.

It(having a monarchy as the head of state***) is cheaper on the tax payer for starters....Probably loads of spin off's with tourism too..

But it's their call who they want and you'll just have to stomach it....Like the rest of republicans who don't like monarchies...

***As a rule that applies to most (if not all) monarchies.

I agree with you Phoenix.

Dunno....Most of the areas, Glen Cairn, Shankill, Woodvale bottom of the Newtonards Road, Sandy Row..Mount Veron etc. have the same crap as most parts of Dublin, Cork etc....Drug related crimes, car theft, shooting's, people getting biffed on a Saturday night because he was pissed....

Probably home from home....(a pint is cheaper in the 6 counties)...
