aint no way that solar and wind energy is going to create all the electricity that a country the size of Germany needs with all of its industry etc . the only alternative to nuclear power is to burn coal and emit all those harmful greenhouse gasses ... kind of a rock and a hard place, eh?
I didnt think that Germany was prone to earthquakes and tsunamis of the magnitude that hit Japan ..? In fact I did read ( and I am open to correction) that the Japanese plant withstood the earthquake as it should (its been there for 20 - 30 years) it was the tsunami that caused all the issues and led to its partial meltdown ...
So, if not coal, what is the alternative (realistically) to nuclear ?
