It's a dealbreaker for me. Family have to approve.

Often family will see things that we are blind to.... too close to the problem to see it, if you like.

i used to worry about wot some wud make of my mum
to say she went to the beat of her own drum is putting it mildly but then i lost her now i dont really care wot anyone thinks of who i date as long as i like them and they are good to me and my wee one

sometimes families get involved and shudnt saying that if they hated him or other way around and ur close to ur family its not going to be easy

i suppose wot im trying to say it never bothered me wot family thought blushing

I suppose it depends on why they dont approve or like the person.

Is it just a personality clash or something in particular.
