I dont understand some of thr regulations in this country.. I get offered a great job with enable ireland (currently where im volunteering) and i cant accept it because

1. Im not 25
2. im not on disability allowance
3. im not on lone parent..

Its part of the CE scheme and i know ill only be working 20 hours a week and only get 20 more extra on what im getting now (144 on job seekers allowance)

the rules are you have to be over 25 to work on the CE scheme but if you have a disability or a lone parent it doesnt matter.. i understand why they get the exemptions but i REALLY love the job im doing now.. and dont understand why i cant get it.. im quite capable of doing it..
shouldnt the old regulations be abolished over the lack of employment out there very mad

anyone else experiecing difficulty with employment thumbs down

Lone parent allowance applies to whichever parent the child/children are living with.

One Parent Family Payment is made to the parent who has sole or main care of the child or children. There are plenty of men on it too... it's not only paid to mothers.

One Parent Family Payment (OPFP);
Widows/Widowers Contributory Pension;
Widows/Widowers Non-Contributory Pension;
Deserted Wife's Benefit (DWB);
Farm Assist (FA).
Time spent in receipt of Carer's Allowance can also count towards the 12-month eligibility period, but caring responsibilities must have ceased and the person must currently be in receipt of either JA, JB or OPFP.
If you are aged 18 years or over and are currently in receipt of any of the following payments from the Department of Social Protection (DSP):
Disability Allowance;
Blind Pension;
Invalidity Pension (Note: you must have approval from the DSP to engage in employment of a rehabilitative nature);
Illness Benefit for 6 months or more (Note: you must have approval from the DSP to engage in employment of a rehabilitative nature).
Travellers aged 18 years or over, who are unemployed and in receipt of Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance for any period or One Parent Family Payment for 1 year or longer. In the case of travellers under 18 years of age, a minimum of 12 months spent in a Travellers Training Centre is enough for eligibility.
All refugees aged 18 years or over, as authenticated by the Department of Justice and Equality, in receipt of payments from the Department of Social Protection.
Persons aged 18 years or over inhabiting the offshore islands.
Ex-offenders aged 18 years or over and referred by the Probation Service. Also, Ex-offenders aged 18 and over and not referred by the Probation Service and in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance or Jobseekers Benefit for a period of one year or more. Time spent as a prisoner is regarded as reckonable when considering duration unemployed.
Persons aged 18 years or over referred by the Drugs Task Force.

copied that off there website.. so basically if i become a drug dealer and get caught and jailed i am eligibile...
if i claim to be a refugee
dont know what the offshore islands are confused
if i were a traveller
if i were sick but then that means i wouldnt even be able for the job in some cases
if had a disability or on blind pension

now i went for the irish blind fund because my eye sight is atrocious and came back unsuccessfull which ive no bother with as i like being free and independent but it just frustrates me that you have to be "different" to get exemptions.. i dont know if i should be mad over this or not.. it has my mind boggled blues

well from 18 and upwards with other stuff needed yes.. but if your on plain ol simple JSA you have to be 25 to go on the CE scheme aka working

i can still do the fas courses.. but i know all i need to know to be 100% qualified for this job and thats why im frustrated

i can see why that system is there but dont understand why JSA's under 25 cant work..

FAS allowances are for specific training courses not necessarily education.

Try your local VEC,if you look on you can see what funding is available.
