wash2u: I did a 3 week stint in NZ followed by 3 months in Europe back in the 90s. Took the whole family on both trips. Loved it and want to go back to some of the places again. But since then, I have travelled extensively in the middle of Aust and found many many great places to visit. And plenty more that I have missed over the last 35 years.

Aiming one of the days to go around the coast because so many people say how great it is 'touring Aust' On the bitumen??? Too many people are afraid to travel the dirt roads (isn't that why we have air conditioned vehicles and motels) and miss the best parts. Then again, if they miss the good bits, it makes it more enjoyable for those that want to enjoy.
i reckon this country has got more in it than most of the world, we dont hav the history and achaelogical attractions ,but the landscape and beaches are fantastic and the things you can do at your own leisure without getting locked up,exploring prosepecting fishing hunting itsw great

I totally agree. I love to drive where ever I am going in Australia. I love it. I'm going top Cairns in January but doing a big zigzag on my travels to visit people all over. Places I'll be stopping include Deni(maybe),Rutherford,Sydney, Brisbane, Longreach, Ayr, Cairns and Atherton Tablelands. Can't wait. applause

Happy wanderer here. I know where home is. But i have travelled as well. London is the best city in the world. I haven't been in lots of places. But I know london. Its a whole different lifestyle. It was very easy to adapt to. Public Transport is A1 and cheap. Ther is so much to do; And everything else in Britain and Europe And lets not forget the Mediteranium is so easy to get to and affordable.

Life in london is lived at the pub. Its like your lounge room but with all the neighbours. Clubs abound. Its awesome. I'd love to go back. In fact i would. But for one small issue of trying to get a visa to live and work in England. And the fact I'm not sure the body could live that lifestyle again. grin Its where i discovered the beauty and entertainment that is theatre. I got into a group that went every wednesday to see a show. (Wednesday was cheap seats nite)

Ireland is nice to Holiday in. The people are very friendly. And theres a redhead around every corner. smitten (I love redheads)

Would go to the Munich BeerFest again. And take in the sites whilst i'm there. Anyone want to make plans for next years Beerfest. I'd save if they are rock solid in going. (Travelling cheap mind grin )

As for Oz. Well Perth is nice. Public Transport is poor. And costs are on par with wages. But what has Australia got to offer? A whole world of potential, Everything is different to what I'm used to. Its a case of walking with my eyes open and my mind open ready to take an opportunity when it comes my way.

serene56: Some people say they have no interest in leaving this island ..

But how about you, is there somewhere you would love to go when the time is right?

And if you've already got the bug, where have you been, how was it and are you keen to get back there?
Australia is not an Island ...it is a continent !!!!professor

Thats awfull, it must have been an old mower tho. Mine has a safety switch under the seat and the moment your weight leaves the seat it auotomatically turns off.
