Hey, here's the scene:
Was at a club in jhb with some people, everyone's pretty drunk, laughs and giggles all night long etc etc.

Imagine the scenario: Dimly lit club, over-loud music, place packed so tight you you couldn't swing a paper-clip.
So, I`m on the way to the bar when this dude yell "Hey, this is (girl's name here, can't remember)", so I turn around and there's this girl looking up aat me and she introduces herself, handshake included, and asks what my name is. So I tell her my name and stand there looking at her waiting for whatever's going to happen next. The dude then asks "Have you ever kissed a girl you've just met?"
Caught off guard I reply "No, no I haven't" (although thinking about it later I realized that I have).
An awkward 15 seconds ensue.
Girl turns away, guys cans himself and turns back to the bar.
I stand there for a couple of seconds then go buy my beer.
So, here's the question:
WTF just happened ?

You should have quickly gone after her & said " You know what, I have no damn idea, who that Neanderthal is - but forget him, lemme buy you a drink!" cool

Not too loud though, for the Neanderthal to hear! grin

hm, well I figured that the girl got the guy to make the introduction coz she was interested but didn't want to be forward and I crapped out by being oblivious until after the fact?
Is this at all possible?

Well, hey, hey, hey....it sounds to me like what just happened, see, is you were on your way to the bar..... when this dude yelled "Hey, this is (girl's name here, right...the one you can't remember)",

and it seems like based upon what you said that you turned around and there was a girl there looking up at ya and what not me and she introduced herself, handshake included, and she went ahead and asked what your name is.

And based upon what ya said you told her ya name and ya stood there see.....looking at her waiting for whatever was going to happen next.

And the dude who you mentioned previously then asked "Have you ever kissed a girl you've just met?"

And you apparently were caught off guard and replied "No, no I haven't" (although thinking about it later you realized that you had).

And I guess from that point it seems like an awkward 15 seconds ensued.

And I guess the girl turned away and the guy canned himself and turned back to the bar.

And ya stood there for a couple of seconds and went and bouht a beer.

To my way of thinking, that's what just happened.

They were probably horsing around or making a bar bet. Maybe the girl wanted to meet you but she was too shy. You could have talked to her.

sounds very much like wat happened! They offered u the moment, unfortunately u didnt seize the moment...
similar thing happened to me on weekend. I was speakin to bouncer for bout 20mins (i know him). A bit later he comes up and tells me a chick (he pointed to) was tellin her friends that she liked me (conveniently) in front of him. Of course she knew he'd transfer the info over to me..
Every1 uses their own method of picking up or gettin ur attention. Best advice is be aware of all these methods so at least then when it happens u can decided whether u wanna react to it or not thumbs up cheers

In this case, the appropriate response would be, "If a train leaves Capetown for Jo'berg at 8am pulling 12 carriages limiting its speed to 120km/hr and a train leaving Jo'berg for Capetown at 9am is pulling 11 carriages limitng its speed to 110km/hr, what colour are the drivers jean pant?"

By using this method you have successfully turned a laughable WTF? moment on instigators and laugh at their confusion and can happily go buy your beer when the train arrives.

thumbs up

It was a bet between the two and you were the random person to answer their bet....you may not or may have been the only subject in the social experiment that they were drunkenly ensueing.
