I have just watched this programme on ITV and it took me back to a very special day in history when I was 21....I spent it with my Mother and some neighbours...the sun shone, the champagne flowed and happiness and laughter were the order of the day. Diana's dress was huge and a bit crumpled but I loved her tiara and flowers....Diana was beautiful and happy, the country was united for that day and times seemed innocent and safe as I remember them. Incidentally,I myself was married later that same year, although not on such a grand scale lol!!

What are your recollections from this special day? Incidentally I am not a Royalist but I do like to see history in the making...

I can't remember anything about it. I hate weddings anyway. Was it in the 80's?

If it was before I had my kid in 1986 then I would probably have been working or if we had a public holiday for it, then I'd have been out living it up somewhere in one of my 80s boozing expeditions so probably never even realised a wedding was taking place help

pointing Old & Senile rollers crying

Is it fashionable now to include a thumbs down after every post as well as above it conversing Okay, here's mine thumbs down

Surely not? In which case I was 14 years old and working behind the pharmacy counter in Boots (the shop, not the footwear). Every other member of staff, including the Pharmacist/Manager disappeared of into the electrical department at the back of the store to watch the event on TV.

I had no interest, so had volunteered (much to everyone's astonishment) to serve any equally humbuggy customers who came by. I'd like to brag that I ran an entire department store single handedly, but I only had two customers all day. laugh

Even at that age, I was singularly unimpressed at the official engagement interview when a reporter asked if they were in love. Diana, not much older than myself, had said, "Oh yes!" all sparkly eyed, but it broke my heart to see her face drop when Charles said, "It depends on what you mean by love".

The git.

Hmmmm such cynicism in one so young lol....at 14 you actually picked up on the "It depends on what you mean by love"??? Old before your years or what?? hmmm
Now as a mature woman I understand it but not back then, not even at 21....and I can think of a better word to describe him now than a git!!
I'd probably be banned though if I called the future king what I would like to call him........conversing

Well, the official engagement was before that, so yes, I could spot a cruel man by the age of 13. I think it was the incongruity of it all, as well...there was Diana smitten by a mean old git and he was horrible to to the obviously adorable Diana.

Stuff the wedding, it wasn't in the slightest bit romantic.

Rarely do I step into the realm of celebrity heroine worship, but she was awesome.

Well I didnt think Charles was cruel at that time...I just thought he was awkward and unable to show emotion...but I put that down to his position/upbringing etc....little did I know of Camilla then. Poor Diana....and you are right she was awesome....and I think her two boys are fab too..and yes I watched every minute of Wills and Kates wedding too...ah happy days!! laugh

I'm the same, can remember the day of her death as if it were yesterday. 31st August and was also my sons 11th birthday.

What a sad day it was sad flower Wow, he's 25 in a month so that must mean she passed away 14 years ago. Unless, I've got my maths wrong. Where have all those years gone uh oh

Maybe if Diana would of accepted 3 in the marriage then things would of worked out, she could of let the sly old fox Charle's see Camilla say twice a week, she could of seen Harry's dad Hewett twice a week etc, everyone would of been happy grin

Maybe I should be a marriage councillor dunno

Prepare to feel even older, sorry uh oh

I was only 13months old when that happened, so therefore had no interest in it at all. According to my Mum, I was playing out in the sun with a few other children from our street. The Mums were all in the house, and Dad's were keeping us entertained so the wedding wasn't disturbed.

Crystal29: How the heck did you manage to go through life and only attend one wedding...and I think you'd look lovely in a big white dress and all the trimmings....
Easy, I just say no snooty when anyone invites me to a wedding laugh
