hate being lied to, it's insulting especially when it's a brazen lie.

You have to ask why are you being lied to. Some people are 'confused'. They can't help it. They need to create fantasy or something. In other situations it could be more malicious and self-serving. It ain't what they do it's why they are doing it.

jimbo79: ok so i have recently been dating someone and after it ended i found out they were stuffing me with lies all the time, how important is honesty yo ye??

Sorry to hear that jimbo,, had a similar experience myself recently.
I think when you don't lie yourself you don't expect people to lie to you and that makes us a bit innocent but liars always get caught out in the end and they lose a chance they might have had with an honest decent person so it is their loss.

Why would people want to tell lies in the first place, they are to going to get caught out in the end.

@Jimbo and Howlingwolf................... what kind of lies did the women tell. was it stuff to make themselves look better in your eyes or just lies in general conversing

I have a big thing about liars, it is a complete deal breaker for me !!!!!!!! i hate them thumbs up

Does pretending to believe in Santa and the EAster bunny for the sake of the kiddies count as a lie rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

All joking aside, i rarely lie and when i do it's generally to my children (the above being one example) or else to protect them from something they don't need to know. Aside from that i try to be as up front and honest as i can.

That sucks J. but at least you found out, and like you said it was only after ye had finished that you found out so it was probably for the best that ye split when ye did.
As for how important is honesty, it's one of the main deal breakers for me, if you cant' be honest with someone how the hell can you expect them to respect and care for you? Trust if a great gift and if you throw it away, well good luck to ya mate, because there's no getting it back, even if both parties are willing to try it rarely works out well the second time around because the trust just isn't' there.

I thought the post by Itsthelittlethings lady from Westmeath was brillantly presented and shows us what a grey area the truth is for a lot of folks. I like to think that I hold the truth dear but being a purist has had its price for me personally.
I think most people use the truth as a flag of convenience or as a means of demeaning those that they percieve to be less than truthfull.
I feel that my relationship with the truth is the cornerstone of my personality but I have to thank my Parents for instilling good ethics into me from a very early age.
