And i agree with you too F&F the truth is a woman could be dating the seven night`s of the week off her o any dating site but.......... she would want to have her gear box well tarmacadamed because she would be shifting some traffic because that is what most of the bucks off here are looking for ... a roadstone job, drop the load and away with them !!!!!!!!

I do not know if i had a child if i would be ABLE to slap them......... i honestly do not know !!! I have never slapped anyone`s child I have a dog and the thought of me slapping him makes me sick............so ????

Ok .................. a question to all you parents or would be parents?


We have all seeen this happen at one point or another !!!! You are in the supermarket mid way through your weekly shop,you have children with you,rangingin age from a baby,a three year old and a five year old.......... the three year old spots a packet of sweets,chocolate, a toy ... whatever !!! You say "no you can not have it.".... The child starts to cry until they are on their back on the floor kicking up a massive row and in some cases kicking their mother..............(i have seen this happen) !!!!!!!


How would you deal with it?

Well i was never abused as a child but i did get a slap........ i was/am not afraid of my parents......... i have/had the height of respect for them. IMO a small bit of fear is no harm ....... it could be the difference between raring a child who respects their parents and a down right pup who might just just take his hand/fist to his/her parents !!!!!

The old saying of "spare the rod and spoil the child"............ i got many slaps but my Mum stills say`s "they were wasted on me," because i just carried on where i left off before i got the slap

As for your feelings of ................. there being a bit of anti British stuff creeping into my post .............. you are way off line there Crystal........... My Mum lives there, my youngest brother was born there and went to a boarding school there, he wears an English jersey, i wear an Irish one............... i lived there myself for years ................... so

The fact that Ireland remained netural due to the foresight of De Valera (who was our then Taoiseach/PM) was more of a help to the British/Allies than a hindrance.......!

Ireland would have depended on Britain to protect us.......... this was a war that was fought on land in the air and at sea, we did not have the tanks,aircraft or ships necessary to defend ourselves (we still don`t) we were then also a very young army with no real training to speak of......... the only war we had known was civil war.

Ireland as you know is an island and we are only a stones throw across the water from the UK ...... Germany would have annihilated us and opened the gateway into the UK ............. history might be telling a totally different story to day if we had not remained netural

Yes, maybe these men did see the bigger picture, but if they had seen the whole picture and the way it would their lives and their famlies lives would they have been so juick to jump ship ............ they had the honour to have helped the British/Allies to victory but the British/Allies got the glory ................. !

There is a few ways of answering at your question .........!

Were they traitors,"no".............. were they deserters, "yes"!....IMO
They deserted their own army in a time of war which doubles the crime....... and i say this because,they deserted and left their own country weaker in her defence against invasion in a time of war......... how did they know that Germany was not going to invade Ireland at the time of their deserteon........ they could not see into the future !
When you sign up to to become a soilder in the army of any country, you sign an oath of allegiance to your country,if your desert that army for what ever reason, you become a deserter.

On the other hand ......... the Irish soilders could have deserted and joined the German army ........ Ireland at that time was in conflict with the British !
The soilders that did desert were black listed for, i think it was 7 years and their names added to De Velar`s starvation book !

Victory over Germany was no victory for those former Irish soilders,their lives as an Irish citizen was dead to them......... i am sure some would have choosen death if they had known what they were returning to............. they had turned their back on Ireland and Ireland through Dev closed the door of their homeland on them,sad but a fact !

Their is no greater gift that a man give, when he gives his own life so that others can live free ................. !

That topic has come up on the forums many times Milan i can only give you my opinion on it ............ I do not care what a persons relationship status is....... married,in a relationship, etc.,etc., to me what is important is,that the person is honest about it in their profile........... if you are given the truth in a persons profile how you interact with that person after that is your choice ......... IMO.

As for using the forum pages........ the same rules apply as far as i am concerned,i have no problem what so ever with people using the forums if they are in a relationship or if they are the Bishop of Meath.......... IMO there is room on here for everyone.... and the one thing there is plenty of on here is space, space a plenty to give your opinion on these pages .........
