sure its why u put up half the topics u dounouwantme2: if one day a person rang you and said 5 years ago i had an affair with your bf/gf and it lasted a year and you confronted your partner over this and they admitted that it was true but they then said the reason i ended it was because i was foolish and realised your the one i love, how would you react to this??
I know of several couples where one or the other have strayed...and then got back together and seemed to be getting along ,I think it is possible for some to put it behind them.

Personally, I'd tell them I never wanted to see them again, delete their number, tear up any photos I had of them, break anything they ever gave me and hate myself for being so stupid. If she could have an affair with someone for a year, you can be damn sure that in the intervening 4 years there were others.
Not only is she a cheat, but she strung you along for years, if she did that to me I'd feel an emotion for her so much stronger than hatred, it hadn't been named yet and I would wish her nothing but misery.
