Hurl or Hurley? (14)

Just curious as to whether people refer to the stick used in hurling as a hurl or a hurley? We nearly always call it a hurley in Cork, but a lot of counties tend to call it a hurl.

Have used both over the years, always thought hurl was the correct word, doesnt mean I am right though laugh

In West Belfast it used to be called an 'attitude adjuster' laugh

That's what put it in my mind, Marty Morrisey referred to a 'hurl'.

Was always called a 'hurl' in Galway.
I had a brief hurling career myself, I showed remarkable talent....until I realised a hurl across the knee was so painful. There ended my career (I don't like pain lol).

hurley here, i think up the country more refer to it as a hurl, hurley would be the correct word, as to hurl with my hurley makes more sense than to hurl with my hurl

Well whatever ye call it in Galway, ye have showed the dubs how it should be used twice this year in the minor and U21 final, Great to see it..thumbs up

The muck savages in the west like galway,clare and some limk call it a hurl,,everywhere else its a hurley ....its a hurley bat in belfast
