The NCAA needs to make some changes. There has been question to whether college football players should be paid, and rules regarding stuff like memorabilia sales, autograph signings for cash ect....
I do not think they should be paid for playing. That is why they have a scholarship. They may have gotten the scholarship for sports, but they are at an institution of higher learning. Their payment is the opportunity to get a college degree to give them a better shot at a career. Some players are good enough to make it to the professional level, but not all. They should have to stay in school and earn a degree, and honor their scholarship. If they want to leave early for the pros they should have to repay the money for the amount of time they were in college.
Now the memorabilia and autographs, I don't think they should be penalized for this. If they sell something that is theirs like a jersey or signature, then they should be allowed to do so. I could sell something of mine and not be in trouble, so why should they if they do.
There is a lot of scandal going on in collegate sports, and it does need cleaned up. Dirty acts and cover ups should be penalized, hands down. But if some kid can turn a buck for selling something of theirs or signing an autograph, then let them.
But there is so much grey area that there needs to be much work done, and a lot of thought going into this before any changes or allowances are made.
