fifitheminx: you cant just drag kids around like that..

single parents need a network of some type if they want to work and if uve more than one child the hassle doubles..and triples ur talking breakfast clubs..afterschools..creches..imagine having 3 kids 2,6 and 9..u need all of them facilities...would cos ya more than a weeks wages. here or abroad.

people see words like creche and school and assume they fit most jobs, and most employers have a slight problem with ya calling in sick cos ur kids are but ya have to!

and very important, what about access to the other parent?

thumbs up

Mine were approx that age when I seperated, was difficult enough to manage here and I had brilliant family support, couldnt imagine trying to do it away from that.

ill use a father as an example.. a father with a child, no contact with childs mother whatsoever, hes struggling 4 work, struggling to pay bills, gets a great job offer overseas, does he go and make a new start??

Not unless everything is in place for the kids to be sorted out once they move (schools, creches, etc) . Then you have to weigh up if its financially viable!

Moving to a new country, you may be on a good wage but equally as much the cost of living could be really high, and sending your kids to school in this country could make you worse off financially than if you were on the social welfare in Ireland... There are hundreds of things you have to look at when making such a big move, and most importantly its the kids that come first, not the job you have on offer!

You also then have to take outer family into consideration and see what the situation is there! Is the other parent involved etc etc!

You cant just say oh im a father with a few kids and i have no job, i got a job in new zealand so simple, off we go! Doesnt work like that.

see the questiuon i have is a single father with a child offered a lucrative job, nice pay packet that could sort the majority of his problems, would he look as deeply into it as you.. im sure schools and accomadation would be looked into beforehand.. there the main 2
