I'm trying to quit smoking. I've been using the patch for awhile now. It sure has helped me with the cravings but the dreams I have while using the patch are unbelievable.

Everyone I talk to has a different idea on how to deal with this. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm open to suggestions.

Not a smoker and sorry don't have any ideas for you. But I did want to wish you good luck and I support you all the way and I am sure if you are very determined and want to quit that badly you can do it! Just think of how much your sense of smell and taste will be improved and how much money you will save from purchasing your cigarettes :o)

YOU CAN DO IT!!! cheering

Hi "ladyhawk74",

I salute you and encourage you in your attempt to quit smoking. As you know, smoking is a horrid addiction.

The dreams may be related to drug withdrawal. They could also be related to pre-menopause. The dreams could be related to other medications that you are taking. Whatever you choose to do, please don't give into the desire to have another cigarette. I am an ex-smoker for over twenty five years now. I quit "cold turkey" before there were any aids such as "the patch". However, to this day, I can understand the desire for "the hit" that comes from smoking a cigarette. If you like, you can write to me personally about your dreams, if they are disturbing you. Just please, don't give into the desire to smoke. As I have written in the foregoing, I know how hard it is, however, I truly believe that you can quit! Lorraine.

I quit smoking, successfully, using the patch. I smoked from the age of 12, for 42 years. I have been a non smoker for almost 6 yrs, February 7,2001.
I used the patch for the full 12 week period, 21mg down to 7 mg. At the start I was taking some pills also, a stop smoking pill that started as an anti depressant. I had some really weird, disconcerting dreams at that time. I stopped the "pills", kept the patch. The dreams stopped.

All the best to You!. You CAN! You Will!

Well that is great that your sense of smell is improving and that you were able to smell the smoke off your jacket and that it gave you a bad taste and not a craving. That is definatly a sign your in the right direction :o)

Have you tried contacting your doctors office or local hospital and ask if they have any support groups? I know here at my doctors office they have posters up regarding those type of groups. Wouldn't hurt to try :)

I hope your doing well and again I wish you the best of luck :o)
