it is now firework season, for the last week i have heard fireworks every night, i expect to hear them for the next two weeks, i dont like fireworks i have never touched one, i know it is a celebration on november 5th, but should fireworks be banned at other times? in this day and age they could even be lethal the ones that cost £40 and more could do real damage in the wrong hands...

I agree that fireworks should be banned apart from the ONE week around Novermber 5th.
It seems people let them off all through the year now just for parties.

Trouble is now, the insurance for smaller events is getting so high as to be prohibitive, which is a shame as more people will go back to fireworks in the back. Something we did when the children were young.

I can understand the annoyance of having to listen to them every night for a couple of weeks.

Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere so only hear the major firework displays on Nov 5th and New Years Eve.

I agree that, seeing as the amount of injuries is still high every year, that people should have to apply for a licence before purchasing a small explosive device !!!

great subject......
personally i think the trade of fireworks should be made illegal to the public. in my eyes these trading industries are providing a lethal weapon to allow over 18 year olds to purchase a weapon as dangerous as any fire arms to selfishly and recklessly aim these fireworks at animals, homes, cars and members of the public!!

i love fireworks but in a controlled area away from nature and animals. question: why is it illegal to have a bonfire where wildlife is living, but not illegal to let off fireworks in public places? strange legal system !! answer: because of the trade these dam things bring to our society(once again money and profit is envolved)

RSPCA and CATS PROTECTION and many other charity orgainisations have been trying to bam fireworks at home because of the stress and anxiety they cause our animals, not to mention the sick things kids do to them with fireworks! this has been going on since the 90's and still no resolution.

done get me wrong i love watching fireworks but, why do people have to buy the display ones, the really big ones and then let them off in the street? where i live there is quite a few oap's and they scare the hell out of them. they shouldnt sell them so early in the year they should go on sale a few days before, the kids round here find it funny to put them in phone boxes and wheelie bins so you can imagine the mess thats left. people who arnt 21 or older shouldnt be allowed to buy them and anyone carrying them under that aged should get fined thousands of pounds.

I like the way you think Bubbly!

Well tonight the fireworks will kick off no doubt and we will have them all weekend!

I will be spending the weekend at home, my poor cat is too old to running scared of fireworks, so will be keeping her in!

Anyone going to any displays?

There is one not far from me and you can see all the rockets going off, quite amazing.

Be safe all, take care...devil
