They come out with this stuff periodically. It's more to do with justifying their worldview and irrational belief that 'life must exist elsewhere in the universe... mustn't it?" than reporting scientific discovery.

But Einstein said that "Imagination is more important than knowledge". Keeping an open mind is vital in science. Because we cannot prove there is life on other planets does not mean that there isn't. The possibilities are wonderful, J.

But science is about imperical proof not imaginings. Besides, they proved Eisnstein was wrong. He wasn't even a scientist! We might as well take advice from the Wizard of Oz.

Science is also about keeping an open mind. You cannot say for certain that something does not exist. A negative cannot be proved. All crows are black until a white crow is found.

Ah Humes Law, inductive inferences, I remember it well. By using inductive reasoning scientists have split the atom, landed on the moon, invented computers etc. It pays to reason inductivey.

cheers Ladyblackadder. Ya brought back memories there.

I am a newbie to this science thing but a gentleman friend has introduced me to some of the basics recently. I am still trying to get my head around quantum physics confused

and 'irrational belief'.... we are but a drop inside a drop of water in the ocean that is the universe... it is completley rational that in a universe so large, that if evolution can produce us over a couple of billion years, then it's equally possible to happen elsewhere

I was expecting that. Isn't it wonderful how Nasa got the several thousand people that worked on the moon landings in the 60s to keep quiet about the fakery? Every single one of them that are still alive still claim it went ahead. That is dedication to a myth, isn't it, J?

You keep signing off "J". Is your name J or do you think mine is?

Please don't confuse wishful thinking with science.

well if you understood the scientific process then you would know not to discount something, or call it irrational, until there is evidence to suggest otherwise.. all science begins as a theory... look at the higgs particle.. completely theory for the las 50 yrs, but they reckon they have viewed now at CERN.... many scientists have called that theory 'irrational' over the last 50 yrs because it tied things together too nicely... yet now, it seems, it has been viewed at CERN!!!!

science is and always will be 'irrational'.... if we don't seek out answers or throw theories away because they seem too far fetched, we'd still be in the stone age
