Does being fit, going to the gym all that often really matter? I dont think so, its down to personality/attitude in a lot of cases, you could be the fitest guy alive but thats only gonna get you so far.
Just be yourself I reckon, not all the girls are gonna like you, get chatting on a no pressure basis, dont force any dates to happen or try rush things.
Takes time, and patience!

You are correct about personality etc but being fit and attractive will get you about 15 seconds attention when you approach a woman. It's up to you to use the rest of your personality to keep getting more and more time until you get a date. A really nice man who looks like Quasimodo won't get a girl to turn away from her friends for even 5 seconds.
