I have to agree. Apart from the abject lack of talent of most of them (that guy Conor who they were all ranting about would have to improve to be me3diocre), another thing that annoys me is how it is being used to revive careers. Brendan keeley used to have quite a successful career in the mid 90s, one of thew other lads used to be in OTT, neither of them should be eligible for the Voice.

Kian Egan was an ooh and aah man in Westlife and Sharon Corr plays the fiddle, how are they singing experts?

There no singing experts i cpuld say the same about the english voice competition tom isnt a singing expert either...

The jusdges on the voice of ireland are beased on who they are which they are well known Iirsh artists... u say sharon corr paly the fiddle, she was part of a very well known irish band called the corrs ... And ok I amy not like kian egan but ive heard all of westlife sing solo and they can sing it really pisses me off people slagging people in bands just coz all they do is back up the main singers ....

All thses guys have connections in the music industry i think its about time something like this has come about give a person a chance to get somewhere in the music industry ... i think its the best out of all the competitions we have had in this country .... peace

Kian may be able to hold a tune, but he's still an ooh and ah man and whatever you think of the Corrs, she still basically just played the fiddle.

When was the last time you heard of the winners of one of these programmes make a genuine break through?

I hates when ppl say that phrase they are backing singers ... backing singers god dammit . ... they play an important role as well in the band lol ... I grew up listening to the corrs... but her sisters were backing singers too not just backgorund but harmony ... what ever u say sharon can still hold a note and i think it proves from the shows from when the judges perform with the acts at the beginning of the show if u havent been watchin then u cant comment ....

as for winners breaking through from the past shows there hasnt much been much of a breakthrough for alot of them but there are still some of them gigging around the country u have to work at it to make it big the music industry is getting harder u have to have contacts these days ...

But since this show started some of the ones that have left in the elimination round have left with contracts and there is a big recording contract for the person who wins out which is i think unlike any of the other compeitions ....

Richie Hayes? Yeah, he's good. I've seen him perform before. He grew up around here. Well, not so much GREW, but he got older!

I'm rooting for Vanessa Whelan... mainly because she's a cousin of mine. I just hope she cam mix it up a bit in the upcoming weeks. She's a little bit stuck in the one genre.

Millieh24: ohhh what an example u picked and how long is she in the music industry .... she maybe able to sing it right but thats becoz there is changes made to her voice on the track and so on ...

the voice is about finding something thats original.. thats why its called the voice of ireland ...

OK we cant compete with the Uk and america but why begrudge them they maybe the only thing we have at that moment that maybe able to get something postive outta this country ...

I dont see u slagging X factor and soo on ...

all these judges are still making money from playing music bigtime at present !!!!

Apart from Cian I think they have done well with the judges. Cant see Bono , Enya and D'OD signing up for it laugh
The others talk up some serious mediocre acts though.
Not Sharon though cause she is always right blushing

They are connected to the music industry in the same way that a squirrel is connected to a tree. The squirrel can climb the tree, the squirrel and the tree may appear in the same place at the same time - but that doesn't mean that the squirrel is made of wood.

Every now and then the tree throws the squirrel a few nuts, like a phone call to pose on tv, but the squirrel can't ask the tree for nuts, he can only take what the tree gives.

They are the musical equivalent of mannequins in a shop window. Somebody else dresses them, sets up their pose, and the public gawk at them and possibly buy some of the things they see. Nobody bothers to ask what's in that empty hollow plastic mannequin head - until TV execs in a bottom of the barrel scraping exercise decide to air their vacuous oohing and aahing.

In my opinion, this is partly an act of desperation, and partly just to see what will happen. Like going to the zoo and letting all the monkeys out of their cages for a day - just to see what would happen. .
