So you read a profile and get a certain impression of that person, and then mail them and it's all wrong or meet them and don't recognise them from the ten year old pic they had up, i have heard so many stories and experienced a few, so why would someone give such and inaccurate descrition of themselves and would ye tell a porkie or two to make yourself look more appealing

profiles are pretty much likes a sales pitch or a job interview .. you want to look your best , they hope that people wont notice the pic is ancient and that they are not easy going and funny ... instead they are boring and up their own hole cool

iv heard of that with women before ... most are uncomfortable with their height and with their weight !! men are just as bad though !! iv read profiles where they say a few extra pounds and really it should habe said a few extra pounds , each leg rolling on the floor laughing

I hate to sound like a pic monster, but you really need at least 2 pics from someone, head to toe, before you get a full idea of what they look like. Very often someone might have a pic... a split second moment in time pic that makes them look very different... not necessarily bad... but different than what they really look like.

That's the brains fault by the way. The brain latches onto things and exaggerates our perception of features of a photo, and its enormous imagination builds the rest, subconsciously.

Most of the people I have met look like their pics but did meet one guy who had a 15 year old pic up, I walked straight past him, and most of the guys I have met have lied about their height, why I dont know as its going to be obvious when you meet, have met quite a few who say 5ft 8in, even in heels I am at most 5 ft 4in and am looking them in the eyes lol.

As for the few extra pounds, have come to the conclusion that this is how people see themselves even if they are a lot more, its what I have on my profile lol.

I believe being upfront and honest from the word go is the best policy really! I totally agree, whats the point of hiding details or pretending to be something youre not?! How can anyone feel comfortable with themselves for doing that or knowing full well that its gonna come back on them!

I'm not keen on these 'I'm not gonna write a whole lot here as I want to keep some mystery' and/or 'mail me to find out more!' profiles, I'd sooner read a full profile with persons interests etc and then fire them off a mail, I wouldnt want to dissapoint anyone if we started mailing and I revealed that I was an avid Lyric FM listener or watched only foreign cinema laugh Thats stated on my profile, so, if that interests them then cool, they can gimme a shout! thumbs up

there are some things you cant just put on your profile , its not lying as such. espically if you inform any person who asks you to meet up ! some things that could be a huge deal when you read it on a profile , can be nothing at all when you get to know the person !

Been perfectly honest I never read profiles! I usually just judge mailing a women by her pics and then see what way her personality comes across in mailing
