almera03: I can be forgetful, not a problem I hear you shout, thank you, it has been a problem though in the past when I've forgotten an Anniversary, Birthday, etc.
How do you feel when a SO has forgotten an important date.
Do you make them "pay" for it, if so, for how long, a week, two??
there is this strange thing about me ( Yes I know you`re gonna find this hard to believe)... But Im terrible with dates and numbers ,most of the time I don`t know what day of the week it is or which date ... in 40% of the time, I do know which month we are ... Do I get pissed if my significant other would forget my B-Day??? Nope...the important thing is that she don`t beat the crap outta me in front of my family or friends...
and ... whatever flows naturally ... depending on the mood ... weather ... anything from more hugs and kissing to exploring one another in case we missed something last time, to jumping into some clothes and going out for breakfast, a walk in the country/woods ... just lazying about enjoying one another´scompany ... whatever takes our fancy ...
and and ... wasn´t a hint No wonder you didn´t get it!!

bhirdie: ahhh...just the mention of it makes my blood boil ! my ex not only chose to forget my birthdays, but deliberately chose to say nothing ( i'm not talking about presents, that would be another level which i never expected of him) but let's say i got 'happy birthday' and a kiss maybe 5 times in 17 years we were together. nooo...he would come home, to a room full of guests, to see a birthday cake that i made myself (which is also very annoying) and he'd just sit and eat and drink and just say nothing. ok, i thought, maybe he's ashamed for forgetting...when people leave he'll congratulate me. nothing. i never said a word in front of family because i didn't want to be disrespectful. ok, i thought, maybe he'll apologize tomorrow and maybe get me a little something to make me feel better. nope. not a word, not a thing. this year, the first birthday after we split apart, he phoned me early in the morning, woke me up in fact (!?!}, to say happy birthday, and that he's coming (driving, from another city,in the middle of winter) to bring a present he bought for me i didn't let him come.
I think you were very understanding to have stayed with him for so long, he sounds awful, poor you

thanks goddes he was basically a good man , and that's the sad part of the story in fact , but he just was emotionally challenged, i don't know how else to describe it
