I think whoever extended the invitation and choose the restaurant should pay for the bill. If there's a second date in a restaurant then I would pay or I would pay for a movie, drinks etc.
I wouldn't be comfortable with someone paying all the time, will make sure it's 50/50 but if someone is mean on a first date...

It should be halved. Ah no, if a guy asks me out for dinner then ye I would think he pays for dinner, I would always buy drinks afterwards, if I asked him for dinner then the bill is on me, that never happens though lol.
I think I'm with knenagh on this one, I think whoever extends the invitation should pay on first date, but if the woman extends the invite, it would be nice for the man to offer something when the bill arrives, even if its not accepted... then always halfs from there on in

Ah is different now, no one can afford to be paying for someone else on a night out.
You have to remember it is 30 odd years since I started dating, then the guy always paid and not just for the first date, until you were in an established relationship anyway. Jayses am getting old lol.
