Thank you. My angels are with me every day, some times I just dont listen. Nice idea for a thread...How have angels touched you..Would love to share some amazing stories
good morning from across the pond, angel, where yor words are just now reaching me. yor story could never bore anyone who has a heart.
im a child advocacy worker & have seen parents take on struggles similar to yor own. ive seen agencies & schools refuse to take a parent's words about their child seriously becuz obviously the professionals know best & as one principal said, you know how mothers are. altho i advocate for the child, the most important people in that child's life are the carers. they (you) are the experts & should be listened to every step of the way.
my son has a medical condition as well. just last year he was getting no where, so i went home to help pound on some doctor's doors. i was utterly surprised to be told since he was over 21, i no longer had a voice. so EXPRESS yorself now, darlin. yor daughter will not only witness yor love for her but will know she is worth advocating for. when the time comes that she'll have to take over yor post for herself, she'll've seen how it was done.

Thank you for all the nice encouragement, and wonderful words.
I have a lot of practice by now, 18 yrs of it, my son had a few disabilities too, and I had to work very hard to advocate on his behalf. It was a challenge also, but one that I did not have to fight for years. I thank God that his disabilities will not interfere with his quality and enjoyment of life.
My daughter being a unique case of special needs, has brought out a fierce determination that is unstoppable and has required more research on both the medical and legal side.
My daughter being so normal looking physically, and being so smart, no one can tell she has 11 medical conditions.
That by itself has been a barrier(her normal looks)because in the early stages of my ongoing fight of the school system, they would try to retaliate, by saying I was making it up that she was sick.
It ended up, we took each other to court, but having the medical facts, proved I was right, and not the lier, they were trying to say I was. The legal judgement was in my favor.
The only thing they could do then was retaliate by hating me. It has always been a double experience with my determination, On my side are the doctors, lawyers, and special ed health cordinators. on their side the entire school system.
But since I never given up, one of top special ed directors, was actually able to start accepting the facts, and recognizing me as a human being and not the monster they hated. I can feel her sincerity being real after so many years.
The way she can see me now, has actually started to change the other educators attittude towards me, now at least, they remain nuetral.
Again thank you for sharing your words and encouragement and sharing your story with me. Angel
PS: As a side note, I have never sued anyone for money in all these yrs of my pursuit of justice for my daughter. My only gain, was for my daughters needs to be met.
That is awesome!!! Good for you and you did a great thing and I can imagine it has made you feel great for what you did not just for yourself but for others as well who are in your shoes!!!
This thread really caught my attention and I am so proud of you and your ability to speak out on your daughters behalf. I am the mother of 4 children with 3 of them being "Special Needs" as we claim in today's socity with diabilities that are not very well known on how to handle and I am always fighting with systems like you. It totally wears me out many days. I would love to chat more with you on some of the resources that you have found helpful or not.

Thank you for your kind words, and I am glad that you would like to chat with me about resources.
I can empathize with you, being worn out some days, especially with three special needs children and the condition not being well known.
I can imagine the number of hours spent on the phone with doctors, and lawyers.
It never ends the amount of contact we have to make to find resources.
To keep myself organize I have a fax machine, the computer, the home phone, and up until recently a cell phone, which as much as I need it I had to let go of it.
It can be overwhelming at times, but I never let it get me down, because I know what a precious gift my kids are.
It has however impacted my life, being the only provider, the only care taker, and the only parent, the isolation in that area cannot be escaped, yet at the same times it just gives me more strength to keep on going.
I welcome any questions, or conversation, thank you.
I am sending you a flower with my personal e-mail.
