Sorry Pool fans no champions league, highly unlikely. If VP stays in England, it'll be City or Chelsea. There only 2 with draw and money in England. Saying that as a Utd fan hurts

I would not rule Utd out yet Dave. Fergie is an admirer. I hope he goes abroad as Arsenal should not be strengthening their nearest competitors.
Very bad policy.

No doubt about that Dave. I still think Fergie could get him. So much for Financial Fair Play looking at the Ch League and Prem winners blues

UEFA defo have their hands full sorting that one out. Money is ruining football and I hope we can move towards a more level playing field someday.

vinny1967: Interesting point of view J considering that none of them take any dividend from the club, unlike the Glazers
Their stated aim is to pay off the ground on a self sustaining model. Considering they are 19th in Nett spending in England for the last 5 years and yet can still qualify for the CH League

P.S. A proper wind up has to be feasible and actually have some sense to it

Well maybe, but i read that in recent years shareholders have cashed in big time on their personal investments for HUGE profits. I respect Arsenal's model for financial sustainability, but at the same time it has to be a worry for fans when so many top players have gone to other clubs??? I feel a bit sorry for Wenger all the same, he seems pretty powerless when it comes to the money side of things, i think he's one of the all-time great managers, but fair play he's got on with things with dignity, and done incredibly well, considering the restrictions placed on him. All the same, i'm sure as a fan, Vin, not having won a trophy in 7 years is a major worry??? Considering they were challenging for the title pretty much every year previously??? And do you honestly see them winning another major trophy any time soon??? The problem, imo, is that by the time they do become financially sustainable (and competitive - transfers-wise) again, they might have slipped too far to be able to attract the big names any more???

Fergie has always been incredibly shrewd in the transfer market, Kagawa imo was a great buy, and for peanuts when you compare to some of the sums being dished out for other players. They'll probably end up getting Moutinho too, who is a great player. I suspect Utd will be in the top 2 again next season, considering having a punt on them to win it actually...

Defo a team in flux, some of the team is young but some are near the end of their career. Next few signings important at this stage I think the steadying of the ship shud top of fergie's list, I forgo trophies if the nucleus of a strong team developed.

No money came from the club though. Rich people bought other rich peoples shares laugh is all that happened.
7 years is too long I agree but up until 2 years ago I felt we were competing and with a bit of luck could have won the title a couple of times. Wenger's stubborness in not buying a keeper and stregthening at the back is also at fault.

However Arsenal are now ranked as 4th wealthiest club in the world and the foundations are set and the future is bright. I would imagine a lot of Liverpool supporters would look on enviously wink

Be under no illusion what the Fenway group are in it for.

Chelsea owe Abrahamavichs holding company over 500 million. What happens if he throws his toys out of the pram and calls in the loan ??

I agree that Chelsea and City are at the mercy of their billionaire owners, i'm not sure the same can be said of Fenway, time will tell i suppose, but personally i think these financial fair play rules are great for football, being able to buy the league soon will not be an 'option' (hopefully). What do you think of Rogers' appointment as Liverpool manager?

I like him and find it an interesting appointment. They did not want to appoint Dalglish at the start and eventually succumbed to the pressure imo. An expensive mistake as new managers will want their own players.
They have bought into the Moneyball type manager that Kroenke was involved with and won't want their manager spending a fortune, but to make ordinary players better. Time will tell whether he succeeds or not as there are at least 4 teams in the Prem ahead of them and all four will strengthen before next season.

There are loopholes around FFF and probably always will be I'm afraid.

I agree with you. The money Man City have is obscene and the notion anyone can buy the league is equally as bad. Closer to home the Leauge of Ireland is in dire straits and even 10% of the revenue of the premiership would a be a windfall for the Leauge here.
