I would say that this places the new Islamic government of Egypt on a par with the Taliban of Afghanistan. If you remember that Taliban destroyed two ancient Hindu mountain statutes.
But what I really think that it is. Is a bargaining chip to do a couple of things:
1) To get the blind sheik out of US custody.
2) To get foreign revenue sources for the new Islamic Egypt.
With the rebellion, foreign tourism dropped off like a 1 ton anchor dropped from a cruise vessel in the port of Alexander.
Personally, I say supply Morsi with the explosives......when the world really begins to understand that radical Islam is to destroy.....maybe it will change thinking regarding it.
And only a President without a back bone would let the blind Shiek out to save the Pyramids.....for this is global extortion that you are beginning to see in Islam. Just wait till Iran gets the nuc.....

Actually, the pyramids aren't all they're cracked up to be, when viewed up close, and disappointingly suburban to Cairo, but I would strongly disagree with any intention to obliterate them, regardless of their religious significance in the past.

I agree with you, but I think that the reality of being able to vote for anything as an alternative to Mubarak has opened up a whole Pandoras' Box of problems for Egypt, and any other Middle Eastern countries that have gone the same way.
