WhatUwish4: Part of the problem is that most of Obamacare has yet to be written so there's not many tangibles out there.

Like the part about healthcare funds being available in case Wall Street banks want another bailout.

They'll put that in at the last minute.

What we need is a doctor from both sides to weigh in...

Let's leave the Doctors to treating patients, I think. Though I value their opinions, just not their practical sense.

Over here they're trying to grant more autonomy to Doctors to allow them to pick and choose where a patient is treated. Obviously without some kind of third body overseeing this the potential for corruption and backhanders is massive. Most Doctors in Britain actually oppose this subtle privatisation anyway, as they want patient care to be their focus.

so,you think some Government Official who hasn't got an Idea about Medicine,or is a Medical Doctor only fit to make Administrative Decisions would in your Opinion do a better Job?

Yes, i'm saying a standard practice should be used so long as the standard practice is fit for purpose. I'm not saying the persons defining this practice should be bereft of medical experience and knowledge, only that their integrity not be compromised.

The Doctor needs to make a diagnosis, and, with consultation with the patient, decide which(if any)treatment is necessary. The Doctor is not there to play salesmen between competing health agencies. Nor should we allow a situation to occur where patients are not treated correctly because they are not profitable to treat, which could easily happen without adequate regulation.

I can see from your vast repertoire of snidey one-liners and over-simplistic statements that I won't be learning anything of how your system works, at least not from you.

Though I do think I understand my system, and I understand that it works rather well.

I think it was around 1988 I needed a job and took whatever I could find. I found a job working for a company who hired nurses who were the final authority if a patient needed surgery and where that surgery would take place.

A patient called the number and I answered the phone. I had to get all the pertinent information from the patient and then pass it on to the nurse. She decided if the patient really did need the surgery the doctor said they needed. To go a step further, she decided where the surgery would take place.

The doctor would diagnose someone but the nurses were the final say. It didn't work back then and it won't work now.

Possibly that's the one and only thing all Americans actually agree on.
