When my wonderful ex partner father died, he loved Piha and all the west coast beaches.
As a child he with his two brothers they went along stoney gravel roads, Whatipu, Muriwai Piha, you name it,thier Dad Keith took them there along with their mum.

Of picking shells or trying to stop his boys from jumping in the surf, you see its very dangerous there, but they watched with LOVE.
Walking through the bushes of Waitakere pointing out the sleek Tuatara's or just raving about the history, of ships that had fallen to the seas, right there, the Orpheus, that great long anchor tree sticking out of Whatipu, and the crazy days of looking back with Kauri tree stumps so huge they become a dance floor IN THE CAVE!
