Vern8880: - Thank you Chris, at least this came from one of the person from Greece, I am just worried because today I heard the news about the Riots etc... although I love the travel but then It's only 4 days and I just hope it will be turn out fine. :-)))
While Chris is correct regarding all the various museums in and around Athens with all the ancient ruins, it is currently dirty , very volatile and my prove to be rather hostile to tourists for a number of reasons; make a trip to Crete and take in the spectacular ruins at the palace of Phaestos, climb around the hills and olive groves and the incredible ruins of the large palace at Knossos; see the archeology digs of all the Minoan towns and ancient murals being found at Akrotiri still brightly painted after being buried for thousands of years; visit their museum of Heraklion filled with treasures of the Bronze age; proof of how far the ancient Minoans had sailed and brought back things that will astound you once you see them. Glass beads from India, cowries used for money from the Maldives, elephant tusks from eastern Africa and India, tin from the British Isles and tons of copper, including a type of nearly pure copper ingots that by chemical testing was found to be in only one place in the entire world...from Lake Superior on the Canadian-US border.,,,while in Thera, scientists examining ruined merchandise found in an ancient warehouse, found the remains of a bug identified as an American Tobacco beetle...which when put together with ancient mummy dissections from the same general period of the Bronze age, which show heavy traces of nicotine, cocaine and hashish in a lot of 9 mummies. Pathology tests indicated that the Egyptians had used American tobacco... It is a fantastic experience.
I do not live in Greece but you will be fine But I cannot say the same about Syria or Egypt at this time
Or you going to travel so far for sixty-nine Why not come to this nearby town of mine?
Potarick
