yah...i was glued to the news last night as i live on the coast within the warning area, but
all was well by 3:00 a.m.

sides....we're cautious here....would have to be one heck of a tsunami to get over vancouver
island to reach me. laugh
and we have many small quakes everyday...and we need them as that lets pressure out of the fault. i am curious though how it will effect the debris we have already being receiving on our
shores from the japan tsunami. anyone know?

as for anthems...we have two official languages so it's great to see both of them thumbs up
thank you both.

je ne parle pas en francais, je suis anglais...c'est dommage.
(can't spell either....laugh)

With plans for an oil pipeline in the area, I think you should be focusing on things more important than who speaks French or English doh

Yes I know the English version, I went to High School in Canada, at least the Fench Canadians will be happy with my post, but of course I had no intention upsetting the English Canadians, but you have put it right by publishing the English version,

totally agree with you on this thumbs up
think there's room for discussion of both on here though... grin

(yah...i know...forever pollyanna..put a sock in it... moping)

i am against the proposed pipeline, for several reasons not all listed here.
as well as quakes, which we don't really know the effect they would have..there are serious weather conditions that happen regularly in that area which folks don't seem to be paying attention to.
and the biggest bee in my bonnet with all this is the fracking that is also taking place in BC. fracking has already caused some small quakes here.
what the heck!!! what kind of intelligence sets up fracking next to a fault line...what are they trying to do? speed the 'big one' up?
dunno very mad
i don't have a lot of good things to say about our current government and i am not alone in feeling 'sold down the river' by our government.

but somehow I have faith that good olde canadian know how and savey will make it not be "economical" or in canada's best interest in the big picture....

of course no one cares that the natural dams that beavers build are still being blown up by good intended canadian nature types..... it's ok to blow up beaver dams.... not ok to frack.... so many rules...

Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits. »

equiya: Thank you, Tomcat. Where is the English version of your song? I know French so I understand but I don't think the anglophone Canadians here will be happy.O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

cloud747: another sign?
or as the lady said, just some small even in the nature?

No, it is not a sign of the Apocalypse. There have been earthquakes and all manner of natural events since the planet formed 4.5 billion years ago. Just another day on third rock from the our star: SNAFU.
If the Middle East descends into a wide-spread war that goes nuclear and involves the big powers, then perhaps I might consider that the Apocalypse is nigh.

thumbs up hiya carl
we actually have earthquakes everyday in british columbia. we just don't feel most of them. if you drive from vancouver to the local ski area, Whistler, one can actually see the fault line in the side of the mountain where they blasted out rock for the sea to sky highway near Squamish.
i don't see it as a sign of the apocalypse, just a reminder that there's a couple plates rubbing against each other... grin
