I read about this on FB this morning.It seems to me the US postal service talked about this before but nothing ever came of it.

They save on manpower and overhead, possibly on insurance and god knows what else. It's difficult to say without looking at their financials. Methinks they have high employee benefit costs with contributions for medical insurance etc. going up in the future. I think this is less a matter of becoming profitable, as it is to just try to stay operational and being able to fulfill their contracts. I bet the benefits packages for new employees will look very different from the old ones.

Maybe the post office will do like so many others companies and move the work to a different country.Maybe they could farm it out to mexico under the free trade aggreement and cause them to fail through sabotage then move it to lets say..China!

As far as I'm concerned, that just means less junk mail being delivered. You can't live a weekend without your junk mail? What's so urgent? For me, if I hear from people I want to hear from, it is by e-mail, not through the post.------ This thread is Archived ------

I wish that we could opt out of all the junk mail. I remember when we were all concerned about all the paper products and it seems like it is 80% trash. Another lost cause it seems.

Hi Nik
You can get the mailing list of receiving junk mail by contacting whomever is sending to you and put a request in writing.I Googled the info and it showed a how to do it.I just may give it a try and see if it works.
Just my luck I'd probably get on another stupid mailing list.
