Your eyes sweep the room and rest on a figure that is looking right back at you.
Your eyes meet briefly and you skip a heartbeat. There's something about him or her, although you can't quite figure out what, which makes you believe that soul mates really exist.
Is it love at first sight or is it lust at first thought? People swoon at the idea of falling instantly into love, and it's not difficult to observe where these ideals come from - fairytales, romantic movies and, of course, numerous romance novels.
But does such a thing really exist? Is it just a fantasy that we want to live or is it the real thing?
It happens only in Books and Movies; in real life it is called Biology, and Chemistry. Two people give out a “mating scent”, which attracts one another to each other for breeding purposes. All the other Romantic stuff and notions are simply mating dances.
People, who speak about “chemistry”, have absolutely no idea what real love is. They often seek that adrenalin thing, - - that rush of feeling of being “in love”. That feeling is pure Chemical reaction to another person. When it passes, they stop “feeling love” - - - Unfortunately they do not understand, that it was simple infatuation, and it had nothing to do with “love”. They all the time cry and moan how always the same thing happens to them, being with the wrong person. Sure, because when mating dance begins, the rule “all is fair in love and war” applies. Both genders pretend, act and behave the way they usually do not. When chemistry weakens, both see the other for who they really are.
BUT if one is who one is, without any kind of pretending, and the other one too, then one can talk about love, because those two people grew closer, step by step without and kind of game playing, pretending, and basically lying about themselves. “You” still accept that person with all its imperfections, and that person does the same. Then those “two” actually have a snow ball’s chance in hell to make it, with hard but pleasurable work. Everything else is futile, is lying to one self and to others, it is not being honest to oneself and the other.
To love somebody is an art, and it is work. It is adjusting, accepting one another, it is communicating and it is consciously opening your heart and soul to another person (Goes both ways, otherwise what is the point?).
So for all of you out there - - - Grow up, and forget about the books, and movies - - - - Start living on this planet called earth, and understand that there is no such thing as love at first sight. It is CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
I prefer to be loved with all my imperfections, then I’ll know she really loves me (goes both ways). Everything else is waste of time, money and energy, especially those “mating dances” and teenager infatuations where chemistry is working and pretending is “the name of the game”.

Yeah............ok then, that´s true about having to love the person for what they are, warts and all, but that doesn´t mean the initial feeling of love at a glance cannot develop into an everlasting love. Hence the expression.......love at first sight. Doesn´t mean there haven´t been problems throughout life, but it endures, it does work........I´ve seen it

Was it a bird, was it a plane, no it was super love. What the OP says may be true in essence(no one can accuse him of being an incurable romantic) But isn't it wonderful to listen to the music and dance to the love tune. I think it is much more interesting to enter into the spirit of the thing and accept what nature offers us, after all what IS real??????????It is LOVE.

I'd say some sympathy - - yes - - but not to be mistaken for "love". One has to start somewhere of course - - but love at first sight is only in books and movies and in people's imagination.

tomcatwarne: Hmmm obviously hasn't happened to you, hard luck
Love at first sight - - - Hey I was stupid once when I was young - - Then I learned and figured out for what it is - - - - Pure idiotic infatuation, when one is stupid and does crazy things for another - - - because one does not see the real person behind all the biological BS - - - -
It happened and I learned - - that there is no "real love at first sight" - - - There is "love", that grows step by step when two people grow closer to each other, and open one another for each other
54xmax: One could call it also - - - "psychological disturbance" If it makes no sense - - - - that Chemical imbalanced stupidity called "Love at first sight"
