Alvin Lee Dead: Ten Years After Frontman Dies From Surgery Complications
Posted on Mar 6th 2013 12:40PM by Dan Reilly
Alvin Lee, the guitarist and singer for blues-rock band Ten Years After, died earlier today due to complications from surgery. He was 68.
A statement on his official site broke the tragic news: "With great sadness we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforseen complications following a routine surgical procedure. We have lost a wonderful, much loved father and companion. The world has lost a truly great and gifted music."
Born in Nottingham, England, Lee was best known for his incredible performance of "I'm Going Home" at the inaugural Woodstock festival. Displaying extremely gifted guitar skills and incorporating a medley of classic rock 'n' roll hits, the set led to Ten Years After playing in arenas around the world.
The band also had a hit with "I'd Love To Change the World" but broke up in 1973. Lee went on to have a successful solo career, collaborating with George Harrison, Steve Windwood, Mick Fleetwood and Ronnie Wood on his album On the Road to Freedom. He would also record and tour with Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Taylor and Scotty Moore. His last album was 2012's Still on the Road to Freedom.
RIP Alvin
And people still trust DOCTORS????? I did the light show for Alvin Lee and Ten Years After at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland in 1970. He will be missed. HL

Yes, he was definitely one of the GREATEST!!
Such a shame he died at the hands of DOCTORS doing "routine" sugery. Watch the movie "Forks over Knives", food can heal you. Dont undergo sugery... it kills!

No disrespect HL, but you must be saying that in jest. There are times when no plant from the earth is going to save a life.
You don't want us to eat certain foods and you don't want us to go to the doctor. If I find out that my heart has a defect, what would you want me to do?

Preventative Maintenance does wonders. Detoxify your body. Research how to keep your heart healthy. Eat foods that will benefit you and take a good Liquid multi-vitamin, mineral, amino acid and trace mineral supplement. Drink Green Smoothies DAILY.
I was a Jet Aircraft Mechanic. We performed Maintenance Inspections and routine maintenance to keep the planes in top notch condition. There was no room for errors. If the plane was not in tip top shape, it could mean death to the pilots.
People have their cars serviced to keep things running smoothly. If you don't, you will have problems with your car. It goes the same for the human body, though it is much more complex.
The best advice I can give anyone is to READ, STUDY, LEARN and get to KNOW your own body.
There are many "Junk Foods" on the market that kill. LIVE Foods are what we are meant to eat. Avoid white flour and white sugar, these are 2 of the greatest villians to your health. Also, get off the soda pops and drink fresh juices that are alive. Those enzymes will keep you alive and do the work that Doctors will never be able to do. Learn about the Immune System and then Keep it Healthy.

jac379: So, you agree that your choice to have a gun, or contribute to harmful pollution in any way may have an impact on other's health?
Jac, Many things in this world have an impact on others health. Take second hand smoke. It is very harmful. I wish that others would not smoke and am thankful when they do not do it around me. But if they choose to smoke in their homes or designated areas or carry them in their purse, they have the FREEDOM to do so. I can not infringe on their right to carry or smoke.
Let me share with you a dream I had a couple mornings ago:
I was in a crowded business building, spacious in the lobby. A big woman was in control over everyone, had people lined up and she was holding a gun on them. I was in this line. She stood directly in front of me and pointed her gun. I dropped and rolled as she fired at me and missed. I rolled behind the person to my left, squatted beside that person, removed the gun I was carrying from my pocket, aimed at her chest, then lowered it to her stomach as I thought, "I do not want to kill her, just take her down", gently squeezed the trigger, she fell and I woke from the dream.
If you had been one of the others in the line, would you be grateful for a gun carrying person who saved the lives of all?
Just something to ponder.
I haven't been on in awhile, posting. What's up? Are there not any Gun Control threads ongoing in the forums?

He's gone home now. And he loved being on stage, a real showman. He'd use his mic stand as a slide for his guitar.....he'd grab whatever was around,,,Harmonica, drumstick, Lee was just movin' a little faster than most of the world around him. Who knows, maybe he just hit enough notes to put him in the next dimension. I bet wherever he is he is putting on one awesome performance, that can be no doubt or debate. Cheers to Mr Alvin Lee. I have a guitar very much like this one and so do many other great guitarists like Steve Howe of YES and 100's of others. Mine is not a Gibson but an RJ and everytime someone that knows their guitars picks it up they are blown away. well,,, that was beside the point except I will be celebrating a great guitarist and only good vibes hittin' the walls.

What an irresponsible thing to say, some of us would be dead without it.
And yes, some people trust doctors, I am sure glad I do.
Comon people...this is not about doctors...this is about one great musician...what we know about medicine...nothing...everyone has time on the earth...question is: what we doing with our time...
Exactly ""every one serving time on earth"",who wants to live as long as Mathusalem.Nobody i guess.
