I like writing although I must admit I haven't done a lot of it lately so I'm going to make a concerted effort to write something every week for people to read, most of it will be fiction but some of it will be biographical in nature.

So to start off I'm going to repost some short stories I did on the blogs some time back just to get started, the first one is called
"The Runaway".

The Runaway

I'm gonna show her!!!

I went into my room and packed only the important items and made sure i had enough money on me and off i went.

I got down to the gate, nobody cried out or tried to stop me, Ha! i was going to leave and no one would be the wiser, but i didnt bother me one bit, i was on my way and nothing was going to stop me.

She was going to miss me, i know she would, but i didnt care, i wasnt going to be told what i could and couldnt have, i was away and i didnt care.

This was going to be the beginning of a new life, one without all the drama i was leaving behind, yes i was on my way... nothing was going to stop me now... nothing!!!

I walked down to where my street met a main road, cars sped past, trucks rumbled and shook the very ground i was standing on as they went by, screeching brakes and horns blaring, everything seemed so much bigger and louder.

I had never been out here like this before.. at least not on my own, despite myself, i found that i was missing her already, i wish she was here with me, she would make everything alright.. i wish... i wish... i wish i had packed some food.

I decided to go back... i was defeated, i knew it, i didnt have the heart for all of this.. i would go back and face the music...

She was sitting at the kitchen table when i walked in, she seemed a little stand offish.. "So where have you been?" she asked me "Nowhere" i replied, "Hungry son?" she queried "Yes mama" i heard myself say.

She made a sandwich and sat next to me while i ate, i felt comfort in knowing she was near, she asked me "Were you running away?" Shamefacedly i replied "Uh huh.." she then turned her attention
to my bag with all my worldly possessions in it and one by one pulled out the contents.

A comic book, my favourite action figure, a torch and a collection of rubber bands and some string, all the things a 5 year old would need out in the world.

At the bottom of the bag she found a small parcel wrapped up in a handkerchief, she carefully unwrapped it and uncovered a picture of her in a small frame, smiling with tears in her eyes, she
said "I love you son" and i replied "I love you too mama..." We exchanged one of many of the best hugs ever and spent the rest of the day together.

Best Friends Forever

Sitting... watching... waiting... listening..
Head still, the eyes cast across the tall grasses.

Sitting..watching...waiting... listening..
Ears scan the hillside for the the sound...

Sitting...watching..waiting.. listening..
Nose constantly samples for the familiar scent..

Moving... crouched ... silent... focused..
stretched out and flat, nearing the quarry...

Boom!!!! An explosion of golden hair and the high pitched squeals of laughter mix together with joyful barking as dog finds boy, they roll around with each other In the tall grass, its a happy reunion.... best friends forever.

The First Kiss

It was destined to happen, we had agreed that we would go to a movie, the infatuation with each other firmly in place, we both felt it, but outwardly denied it in the presence of our peers, left alone however, the infatuation washed over the both of us like a fan flaming our already overheated desires.

We would see each other in between classes and cast secret smiles between the two of us, the smiles that immediately set the pulses racing and caused the skin to flush, so much so, that many a time we were asked by various friends if we were ok.

We had deliberately chosen the night of one of our high school dances to go on our date so we could be left alone with no friends about. We agreed to meet at the theatre and when i got there it was all i could do not to melt into a puddle of nerves, and then, she arrived.

There were no words that could describe her intense beauty, it overwhelmed me, wrapped me up, and carried me as far into the heavens as i was allowed to go, at that moment if i had seen one of Gods angels it would have been no comparison to the beauty i had in front of me.

We said our hellos to each other, our hearts in our mouths, we both glowed from the heat of mutual attraction that threw up a haze that blurred the world around us.

The movie was of no consequence, more than once we had caught each other stealing glances at one another in the flickering light of the film, we had permanant smiles on our faces as we pretended to enjoy the movie.

In a move of pure boldness i reached out and took her hand, she responded by intertwining her fingers with mine and squeezed determined not to let go, i held her hand firmly, my face was flushed and burning from the heat of the first contact.

We held hands as i walked her home from the movies, we talked joked around and laughed, and not far from her home we stopped at a park under a lamp post. We stared at each other still smiling our everlasting smiles, i held her in front of me, we made promises to each other, hearts beating rapidly we both moved in for the first kiss, the previous awkwardness and nervousness of not knowing what to do that i had agonised over previously, were now a long forgotten memory as nature took over and gently guided us on our way.

Her lips were soft, warm and inviting, we kissed the kiss of the ages, we kissed with passion that ensured we would not forget about each other no matter where our lives lead us, we kissed our kiss, and somewhere in the background, away from the streetlight in the park that had two lovers locked in an everlasting kiss, the world carried on in its usual way.
