Bulgaria

First tings first!

Where is it? Bulgaria is situated on the N43 latitude - the same parallel as the famous Cote d'Azur of Southermost France. applause

It is a small country to the north of Greece. rolling on the floor laughing In fact it's twice the size of Netherland and it's 4 times less populous.

To the East it borders the least salty sea in the world - the Black sea which is 2 times less salty than the Mediterranean sea.applause
It's the best place to have a bath in the summer. It's beaches are marvelous. No low nor high tides whatsoever!

Half of Bulgaria are mountains - many kinds of them we have here - some as high as the Swiss Alps, some vast, some long, some just like a big hill of 2200m near Sofia. All beautiful in their different ways, I can assure you, as I have roamed them all! applause

Well? What else? You may ask me or you may simply come and see for yourself. I'll be glad both ways.

If s.o. really wants to come to know Bulgaria just let me know, I'll personally show it to you. For the cost money of a chômage (a french word) you can live quite a happy month here.
cheers cheers cheers
Yes the beer here is great!

Well, on this site there are quite enough of them. You can try your luck!!

But if you know my opinion they are too dark for you and me. laugh

Here are the facts: Bulgarian women are by far most in numbers dark haired - black, sometimes dark brown, and have dark eyes - black or hazel at most. You can never tell by these eyes when they lie rolling on the floor laughing Blue eyes have only about 5 percent! And green about 7%. professor

What is most annoying is they have so small foreheads. Sorry, gals, but it's the truth. comfort

Do you have more questions that I can answer?

1Casablanca1: Forgive, but from your picture, I think you also share the same quality, no, the small forehead?

I look at pictures of Bulgaria women after I read what you write. They are very beautiful. The way you described your country is very beautiful. I was just very sad and disappointed when I read what you write about your own women.

I beg your pardon! Partly I am responsible for the humorous answer. I think it´s not an insult on Bulgarian women to talk about their oddities. eu

Yes, we have the richness of all full four seasons here - autumns with the all colorful falling leaves, winters with beautiful white covers of snow just an ankle deep in the towns and the cities or man-high in the mountains certainly above 2900m where snow melts in the the early of summers. I'm certain none prefers to be baked all year round in a furnace of 40 degrees Celsius or to be bored under the Sun. laugh

of December. applause

Certainly as being a Greek woman you have a prejudice to Bulgarians as the English have to the French. laugh This of course has a long tradition of hundreds of years of interaction between our two neighboring countries. handshake

In my opinion taxi drivers are not the kindest of folks nowhere in the world and that many man of that driver profession have some kind of a wrench at hand, just in case. You cannot imagine how many Englishmen fall to heavy drinking here. It's because local beer makes are mostly very malty! Furthermore they are incredibly cheaper than what one can find anywhere in Europe including the German supermarkets! Of course, a consummate beer lover cannot compare it to the live one which to me is the only real ONE! peace

drinking the oddities of German beer from supermarket are:
- they never cool it
- you have to pay 25 ct deposit for a plastic bottle
- it has strange names and tastes even worse
so when it comes to beer - better trust your local guest-house, they soemtimes even sell their own draft, which tastes 1000 times better.

okay drunken men innocent and vicious women devil - what else I have to fear in your country? Brown-bears, wolves, wolverines, hedge hogs with rabies? eu

Yes I have tried here canned and bottled German and other beers and find all of them taste nasty.barf

The most you may fear is to buy tomatoes imported from Greece - they can make you sick! If you menage to eat them of course, coz they taste like plastics. I presume they have been too much "fertilized". rolling on the floor laughing

You might not fear that of any Bulgarian produce at all! Here it's totally organic! Several absolutely colossal plants for artificial fertilizers have been scrapped for iron long in the 90's. professor It was all because the then popular anti-communists "leaders" of the state have privatized them for peanuts to the incapable people.

Oh, and the water here in Sofia is excellent even from the tap as it comes from the highest of mountains. Of course some prefer to drink mineral water for the its taste and its absolute clarity! You see it's not chlorinated as the public water supply. Rather it has natural mineral content from 100 to 300mg/L. People take it here for free from public taps on so many places or just buy it bottled in 7L from the nearest supermarket for 1E. dancing

Bulgaria is so much rich in such low-mineralized drinkable mineral water springs that the Palestinian population in the Gaza strip, where water is times more expensive than gasoline, might not fear at all, if they only knew of our water supply capabilities yay

In Ancient Roman times Bulgaria was a part of Trakia and Mizia regions of their vast Empire. As lovers of bathing for hours Ancient Romans built all their settlements around well-known mineral water springs all around the country. They did the same at the famous Provans-en-Axe in Southern France mineral springs! peace

Here I've just made to reappear the last 2 of the posts I have hidden. I hope you we'll take delight in them as I did. laugh

Well, I have never seen your "1 meter tall snow" anywhere in a Bulgarian city, not to say at see level, so you must have watched this amazing phenomenon with a quite prejudiced mind somewhere in the mountain resorts. rolling on the floor laughing

I'll hide these posts soon so if you intend to keep them save them!
As I have saved my other thread on Napoleone Bonaparte which unfortunately was hidden by this site operators without any warning, comment, or arguing. I think some Englishmen may have been abused. You know how prejudiced Englishmen to the French are! And how misinformed are about Napoleone Bonaparte! This very great hero of Europe, not only of France! Goethe - the most prominent German writer have glamorized him all his time. So did Alexander Dumas too! Even such a sworn royalist as this, the best of authors, Honore d'Balzak had kept just silent to Napoleone and his legacy and fame. laugh

Lovemedofr, tell me what shall I do? To defend the right of speech! rolling on the floor laughing

Well, for the beneficial effects to the health by taking mineral baths you can see my other thread or the vast literature on the spa subject. A dozen of the word famous resorts in Switzerland and Germany are situated around mineral springs. Baden-Baden! They have the power to revitalize your skin like nothing else!

Indeed, there are lots of mineral water springs everywhere in Bulgaria, all with excellent low mineral content and purity - about 360 in total number. And only a dozen of them bottled! It's a pity, as in Germany they have 600 and in France over 300 bottle makes!

Next time I shall present you a short lecture on the Bulgarian language.professor
