At some point I think we all have to let go. It may not be something that we want to do but there is that critical point in combative behavior where if one does not let go then somebody could get seriously hurt. There is a point where it really doesn't matter who is right or wrong. One just has to draw back and wash your hands of the matter. To some it can be the long version of the serenity prayer or the short version which is just screw it. When you have done all that can to do what is best and your best just isn't good enough. There is a point I guess where one just has to admit to one's self that one needs help and give in to a cooler mind or one that isn't caught up in the struggle. There is a point where one isn't really helping. You can only do so much then you can reach a point that is best to let it go.
Thank ya'll guys. I thought I was dealing with a demonic possession this morning. This little old lady was telling me that I was hurting her and all I was doing was holding her hands so the other aide could dress her. Then she said she is hurting her and all she was doing was trying to dress her. Everything went ok but man it sure scared me because the last thing a care giver wants to do is hurt someone.
