Kaybee50: Ali.
I came across your profile on another site awhile back.
I was surprised to see some of the propaganda I saw on your page and decided it best not to "friend" you.
What I saw surprised me, but did not "hurt my feelings".
Although I may not agree with the statements you made (which protray some of my beliefs and values in a poor light), I uphold your basic human right to make such statements.
I do not have a right to kill you for making statements that protray my beliefs in a negative light.
name the sites please except FB wine

peachmelba: Ali my opinion is its all how we react that will determine an outcome,

Isn't it better for Muslems and anybody for that matter to act with calm and speak out rather than resort to violence ,

Maybe then real communication can beginn.

Within the Catholic Church was scandals and covering up,

People didnt go murdering priests or threatening to blow up the Vatican,

Staunch religious Catholics don't go targeting printing offices that depicted Jesus in a caricature form that even makes fun at him through comedians or cartoon form.

I stand corrected on the billions - however, what "human rights" are you speaking about?

The rights of the fringe to dictate to the many?

JeanKimberley: Gosh isn't it wonderful to express your opinion on something and not have to worry about violence to your person for that expression.

It is always important to remember you cannot speak for others. We often forget when we make generalizations that start with all blacks, or all catholics, or all women, or all men, or all connecting singles, or all....

as far as billions of muslims - it is the violent fringe that is trying to dictate terms to the millions - not billions of muslims

There are an estimated 1.6 billion Muslims around the world, making Islam the world’s second-largest religious tradition after Christianity, according to the December 2012 Global Religious Landscape report from the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life.

Although many people, especially in the United States, may associate Islam with countries in the Middle East or North Africa, nearly two-thirds (62%) of Muslims live in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Pew Research analysis. In fact, more Muslims live in India and Pakistan (344 million combined) than in the entire Middle East-North Africa region (317 million).

Only a handful fanatics found the cartoons blasphemous towards the
Prophet.Millions of muslims couldn't cared less.-
The same applies to Christians with a blasphemous Jesus cartoon.
Millions wouldn't care at all, only few fanatics,or probably non at all,,would come out and protest.
It seems to me,you felt, the cartoons an insult to you faith Ali.
And is it the reason you created this thread?????
By the way,it is inside the fanatics imagination, that the cartoons, published for just one reason. To develop hate.-

Lesasbre: I agree that a lot of people will be offened, but if you live in the free world, criticism and satire are a part of daily life; some will be hurt, some will agree, others will just shake their head and no one, with just a fraction of intelligence, will commit a terrorist act or urge others to do so..
Otherwise I think your comparison with a woman right to her own body really doesn't sound right in my ears...

Well that's all I'm saying that its just insensitive to depict cartoons or cartoons that may be offensive to others,

That's my point that people have a right to be offended and say so as so many of us do speak out without murdering someone for it,

Everyone in the world will be offended at something in their lives,

Pope Franciscus on Charlie Hebdo: Don't kill in God's name but don't insult faith.

Easy to understand, difficult to find accurate limits about offending another's faith.

John Stuart Mill wrote about Jesus in "On liberty":

"The only other instance of judicial iniquity, the mention of which, after the condemnation of Socrates, would not be an anti-climax: the event which took place on Calvary rather more than eighteen hundred years ago. The man who left on the memory of those who witnessed his life and conversation, such an impression of his moral grandeur, that eighteen subsequent centuries have done homage to him as the Almighty in person, was ignominiously put to death, as what? As a blasphemer. Men did not merely mistake their benefactor; they mistook him for the exact contrary of what he was, and treated him as that prodigy of impiety, which they themselves are now held to be, for their treatment of him".
