As a very new member, I'm particularly surprised at the lack of real communication. Since this is predominantly a vehicle to reach and be reached via WORDS! , I've found exchanges do flatline quickly. Letter writing is an art form that many people in the modern world have little experience with. I get why people hold back their deeper thoughts, but it doesn't take long to determine whether we have much to say to each other. Although I have no expectations in regards to dating, the value of a site like this is to take a risk, speak to a stranger, stretch our outreach and writing/communication skills. I'm a widow of two years now. My partner and I had an incredible verbal dance going on, that sparked wit and wisdom, love and laughter, and offered tremendous insight. Most of the responses to my profile have been, well, I have to say, pathetic, lazy, unimaginative. I am neither desperate or stupid. My life is full and fun, but I began to wonder if I'd ever meet another loving, intelligent, witty, man who I connect with. I'm sure most people are intimidated by singles sites. I am. This is my first and possibly last. We have to remember there's a real flesh and blood human at the other end of that keyboard. How can we expect to meet a life partner on the internet? For that matter, how can we expect to meet, Mr/Ms Right anywhere? It's a miracle. It happened to me once, and so I think it can happen again. So I think of this site as a way to practice communicating, stretch the brain, express with wit and sincerity and hope these connections can help us in some small way.

A lot of people on the blogs and forums have been here a long time and kinda no each other and have a bit punchy fun. A newcomer would not see that.

Most of the dating goes on behind the scene and does not make blog or forums or poetry section for that.

I pass some of my day with internet friends I have known a long time. Had a couple of dates years ago but now I just use this site for fun AND TO WELCOME NEWCOMERS cheering banana peace teddybear

The world is most like an ocean filled with jellyfish and if you swim in it, you could, very likely get stung badly multiple times... Temper your eagerness to try and reach out to total and complete strangers; don't become a convenient target...wine
