have any of you grown apart from your kids or do you feel like they harbor some resentment.

I haven't grown apart from my son. We are not just father/son, but good friends as well.

We are much closer now than we've ever been. She and I are only 17.5 years apart, so almost like sisters. I still tell her to clean her room though (her whole apartment, that is) lol.

nope, no resentment to my knowlegde on my kidlets part. they live with me half the time. i am involved just as much as mom. i am actually closer to my children now. What a blessing.

it also helps to get along with the ex. this creates little tension when the adults can be civil and the kids see that and accept the change in family.

some people ask me how the children are doing ...they adjusted just fine since our breakup, and again i think largely because mom and dad still get along.
