In previous threads there has been a lot of controversy about the bible. One of the things that sticks out in my mind that occurred most recent was that the bible was outdated. Even some of those who say they believe it, say they don’t think that it applies to today so much.

My question is how this does not apply to today?

‘Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.’

Alot of people pick and choose what they beleive from the bible.

Right or wrong it happens..

That is pretty well known we beleive what we choose to beleive and pick out pieces of the bible. That feel good to some, not the things that make you feel bad or scared or...

Common sense, common decency, compassion, are in nearly all ancient texts...be they 2000 years old or 4000, it really isn't rocket science...live joyfully and share...

It applies yesterday,today,tomorrow and always!
and those that imply that it does not apply to today..
Just don't want to abide by God's Truth!

If they can convince themselves of such...denial...they
believe they can carry on...in unjust and sinful ways..
I wish em' Luck...They going to need it!

Things spoken get regularly taken out of context. Why? Beats me! Of course LOVE applies to today!

But there are laws, for instance, in the Bible that were not "of God," not "Jesus's admonitions" for a blueprint for our lives. They were the laws of the land at the time...man-made laws.

For example, the word "obey" in the marriage vows...taken totally out of context, even for the time, and completely absurd in today's world.

Read Galatians 3:28.

I don't completely understand the post. The referenced scripture has nothing to do with the wedding vows.

Are you taking it out of contexttongue

If I have a Revelation of the Genesis of an Ox being raised OR coveted,
I'm not going to have the patience of Job. I'm going to trust the Numbers and there will be a QUICK Exodus.

Dude the bible totally applies today. Although, there are people who won't accept it. The way I see it, if science is still proving again and again more of the facts to be truth from the Old Testament daily, then why the "Heaven" not?
