Living in a National Park, in the famous Rocky Mountains no less, that privilege is not given too many. Living there for 4 1/2 years was unforgettable. Many days I went out seeking wildlife, big horn mountain sheep. magnificent animals,
Seeing elk, deer, that came right up to the house, so did the bears.
Before you emptied the garbage can, you would throw a rock at it to make sure there was not a bear hiding in it.
Bears with their babies in our street. Mam wanted them up the three, if they did not want too she would swat them on the bum.
The rocky mountains oh so beautiful, I was often so thankful to have experience this wonder.
Jasper was not over run with tourist like Banff .When the people found this out they would chose Jasper for sure
One day going up into the mountains, a park ranger talked to us. Look at this and he showed us fish fossils in a rock. You are now seeing what scientist from all over the world are coming to look for, as all this was once a ocean, this proves it.
Elk are more dangerous than are deer and are not coming to the house like the deer.
Surprise! one day an elk came up the steps leading into our living room, I managed to shut the door in it's face just in time.
My then mother -in law was visiting from Holland, went running out of the room. I assumed she was scared. Oh no, she went to get her camera. Finding the door now shut she was very angry at me. "What did you expect that large animal would do" I asked, "sit at the sofa and pose? No, it would have panicked and destroyed the place"
I will always be grateful to have been allowed to live in paradise for several years.
