GullyFoyle: that is enough. How many here know Eastern orthodox practices? Later Christmas and new year. Long beards and can marry.
Christmas eve on 24th of December, New year on 1st of January... Armenians are Orthodox but they have their Christmas on 7th of Jan. New year isn't a religious holiday anyway. Armenia isn't in Eastern Europe.

Many Orthodox Christians annually celebrate Christmas Day on or near January 7 to remember Jesus Christ’s birth, described in the Christian Bible. This date works to the Julian calendar that pre-dates the Gregorian calendar, which is commonly observed
The Old New Year, or the Orthodox New Year, is an informal traditional holiday, celebrated as the start of the New Year by the Julian calendar. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the Old New Year falls on January 14 in the Gregorian calendar.
This traditional dating of the New Year is sometimes commonly called "Orthodox" because it harks back to a time when governments in Russia and Eastern Europe used the Julian calendar, which is still used by some jurisdictions of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Eastern Orthodox Church's liturgical year actually begins in September.

Officially known as the Republic of Armenia, Armenia is a state that is located in Eurasia’s South Caucasus region. The South Caucasus region refers to the area lying on the border between Western Asia and Eastern Europe, which is close to the southern Caucasus Mountains. Located in the Armenian Highlands in Western Asia, the nation is bordered by Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Azerbaijan’s exclave of Nakhchivan, and the de facto Republic of Artsakh. The city of Yerevan is the capital as well as the largest city. The physical location of Armenia has led to plenty of questions about whether the nation is part of Europe or Asia. Geography
Geographically, Armenia is in a confusing location. The South Caucasus region, in which Armenia lies, is between the two continents of Europe and Asia. The region is what most geographers would consider the unofficial border between the two continents. Naturally, as is the case with almost all border regions, it is difficult to classify where it belongs due to the mixture of elements and traditions from either side of the border. Regardless, going by the strict geographical demarcations of the world, the continent of Europe ends at Bosporus in Turkey and at the border to Georgia in the Caucasus Mountain range. Going by this, then Armenia is geographically on the continent of Asia.

On 7th of January we celebrate saint Basil's day. We have fasting before Christmas and before Easter. For as long as I remember we have celebrated Christmas Eve on 24th of December... Many dates have changed with the time but the official Church dates are the ones I have mentioned. Cyprus is part of Europe but it's closer to Middle East... And it is considered to be a Western European country... Far from the West, same with Armenia, it is not in Eastern Europe economically and politically.
Thank you I did not know that. My grandmother helped people escape. Then again, before he returned to the us, my gandfather was a gamekeeper. So she knew the woods and trails. He lost 600 people in his village. It was mostly Polish, twentyfive percent Jewish and two percent Ukrainian.
