I try to really see people. I was working for the sheriff's office and watching the families come and go on visiting day for the inmates at the detention center. Seeing the kids faces as they saw their parents, etc. really hit me. How many adults do you know that really see other people and genuinely reflect it on their faces? This world could really jade you if you didn't see the unconditional love that is also in it. Kids make you better people and teach you so much about love, acceptance and faith.
When things around me just seem to be falling in on me. I like to take a trip to the zoo. I find a kind of peace with the animals. I also love to go for long walks in the country, walk in the fields and stroll up to a pond and look out over it and sometimes it seems like I am trying to see through it. I may sit there fo awhile and just not think. I spend lots of time in my gardens when weather permits. I am constantly upgrading it and changing it to look more and more beautiful. I love growing my vegetables. Watching them grow and take on new life brings me such joy. But....the one thing that has never been topped, is horseback riding. I used to get on my horse and just ride forever it seems. I would saddle up and sometimes I wouldn't even bother with a saddle. I would ride for hours and sometimes be gone a full day and part of the night. I would ride at midnight many times. I can still see in my mids eye me riding while it was snowing in the middle of the nigh.My all time favorite time to ride was during a thunder and lightening storm. With the waves of rain falling down around us, and the sounds of his feet hitting the ground. Not very smart, but most awesome. Just me and my horse and nature at it's finest. Gawd, I miss that so. Something incredibly calming and a time for soul searching for inner peace for me is to go to church when there is no mass. The quiet in an awe inspiring place is incredible. Whatever denomination you are doesn't matter---go to any religious sanctuary where there are no services scheduled and just meditate and think of your life, your past and where you want to go. At the end of this experience, I say prayers for everyone in my life. This leaves me so refreshed and relaxed---it's incredible.
I used to be busy...too busy to enjoy life...I took inventory of my life and decided to get rid of those things in my life that I didn't need and caused alot of undue stress!!!! Now I keep my life simple and only as busy as I choose to be!!!!!
To bring inner peace I like to read in total silence, turn out all the lights at night and just have candles burning and pray!!!!!
I walk out my back door and into the woods..about a half mile out there is a small clearing...all moss covered...where I can lay down and just watch the clouds roll by..not sound but the wilds..and think about how big the world is and just how small all my worries really are.
