"A person who does not read is no better off than the person who cannot read"
I first heard that statement about eight years ago, and as a person who reads books every day for enjoyment, I could't imagine a life without enjoying reading. And I really do agree with that statement... but I know alot of people who would feel differently. Thoughts??
Agree completely. I also love to read and cannot understand many people around me that don't take advantage of all the great books, magazines etc there are. It's been proven that the people with the highest IQs are the ones who read regularly...
If they're not utilizing it, they're no better off from a situational standpoint.
How I disagree:
The potential and opportunity are both there, should they choose to utilize it and help further themselves. Utilizing it is something that the one who cannot read can't do without assistance, in my eyes. Choosing not to utilize it touches on the procrastination discussion, as well.
