I believe, and this is just my humble opinion, that we need to mind our own business and if they cannot take care of themselves why should we help them. Don't we have enough of our own problems as a country on a hole that we need to worry about first before we try to solve the rest of the worlds' problems???
The main problem I have with this war is that I think our leaders are confused as to who the enemy is.
It reminds me of that movie "The Patriot" and the American Revolution. The British came over in their bright red uniforms and followed the rules of warfare for the times. American guerillas in camoflauge, hiding in the woods, were able to outsmart an enemy that outnumbered them.
And that's how I feel about Iraq. The terrorists are not a nation with a national government or a national army. They are numbers belonging to multiple organizations with blackmarket resources and the ability to launch surprise attacks and then fade back into the population. We as Americans cannot go into this like we're fighting World War II again. I had thought we'd learned our lesson from Vietnam.
Its like dealing with a Greek monster. You chop off its head and it grows another. I want Osama brought to justice as much as anyone but even when he disappeared from the picture, leaders of other terrorists groups were ready and willing to step up. Hussein is gone but we can't guarantee that another dictator won't take control. Even in a democratic state, you can't guarantee that the people will elect someone good. America has so many of its own issues that I even wonder how we can possibly consider ourselves a role-model of democracy.
And I really worry about the troops. I know alot of people who have served and still are serving. I've seen friends come home only to be deployed again even when they've insisted that they're done volunteering. I have others that have lost their marriages while wait for the chance to come home. I've heard so many stories about men and women returning home to uncertain futures when they were once so convinced that the military was their chance at a bright future.
I don't have the answers but I just believe that something has to change.
Good to see you are up to your usual monosyllabic self there codes...heaven forbid you move past name-calling and childish taunts, and post something intelligent...
The junk threads are back in the Aussie forums, just for this sort of crap, which I know you are aware of, as I noticed by your posts there.
In the beginning I thought this war was the right thing to do because I thought terrorism was a legitimate cause to fight against...Now that it seems that is not what the Iraq war is about and that there seems to be no real goal or end in sight...I see it like the Vietnam war more or less with people dying everyday for no real purpose and no way of ever winning!!!!
My vote is to pull out and let them fight their own war!!!!!!
