My son just left taking his first solo ride in his jeep....geesh....I cannot believe I am still so protective......now I know what my Mom felt like when I took off the first time.....proud....nervous...all wrapped up into one big feeling.....
Took his drivers road test yesterday....I was so proud of him....now today was the first solo ride to B.C. Pizza of course!.....Then to the country on private land of his friends to target practice.....guess I'm gonna learn to be more and more of a Grandma....and less and less of a Mom....well I think they'll always need me....its just taking on a different form....atleast thats what I'm telling myself....
My son is 14 and I plan on teaching him to drive....just hope he doesn't inherit my lead foot!! I am a nervous wreck and he isn't even driving yet. When I started driving my mom would tell me to be careful and I have always been careful....she said, it's not you i'm worried about....it's the other guy! As long as I have drivin, I realize that she was always (and still is) right. People on the road can be crazy!!
Yeah, I always told my daughter to watch out for the "other guy" too, until she pulled out in front of a big Ford going 65 mph. He roller her down the hwy and into a deep ditch. You haven't lived until you receive this phone call from the hwy patrol telling you your daughter has been in an accident. Your heart stops beating. They say these kid's brains are totally formed until what, early 20s or so. My daughter has proven that. Now, every time she leaves with the truck, I am in deep prayer until she returns in one piece. Something to look forward to parents!!!
OMG-can feel your terror at his first ride. My oldest is 12 and he is already talking about learning to drive, can you say scary? Then my youngest is 6 and he has CP, he knows how to ride with training wheels on his bike but he wants them off and I am terrified! I don't think he is ready but he wants to be like all the other kids-oh boy!
