I wouldn't in any situation. I would say What would get me in the least trouble or what I thought they wanted to hear.
Generally I am an honest nice guy but the bible isn't going to alter what comes out of my mouth. A woman would.
It makes me laugh that we still rely on this bible swearing pretence in court. I really can't see a harden criminal being quelled/subdued by a bible.
Now that woman thing. If I considered her out of my league and was told; If it is proved you have told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: you get to spend a whole week with this stunning woman. And she will be totally at your beck and call.
Now that would make me sit up and beg. Play ball in complete submission. The reward in my mind totally worth it.

I would swear on the bible to tell the truth and I would, because to me the bible is more then just a book. But not everyone sees it that way. An athiest could swear on the bible and they wouldn't care or they would refuse to because they don't belive in it. You might as well get them to swear on the Edmonds CookBook or an agnostic wouldn't either beacause they're not sure that it is the word of god, so why swear on it. Maybe things do have to change in our courtrooms but what would you swear on then?
If your honest you don't need to swear on anything. You will answer honestly no matter what the situation.
If you are a liar that is what you will do. Do we trust car salesman and real estate agents. Generally no because thet are taught to use colorful words.
Do we trust lawyers. Generally yes, Yet they defend the guilty no matter there personal views because that is their job and sometimes they win. Are they bad.
We can only work on how we feel. If we look at others and feel we can trust them we will.
So why go through pretences and waste time. Why be Politically correct if it achieves nothing. If we are going to lie we will. If we are going to be honest we will be. The time place and circumstances will have an effect on how one reacts and responds.
You know: Now this thread shouldn't be under humor it should be under something more serious. It was suppose to be humorous. But we all respond differently.
It is how we make each other think and it is what makes our communities interesting. Life would be boring without differences.
